Title: Pet Insurance
Post by: Teaspoon on December 10, 2024, 08:59:00 am

My company is offering Pet Insurance this year along with our benifits.....My co-workers are teasingly asking if I think they will insure my dogs...lol.... I knew that people got insurance on animals (mainly horses) for valve reasons, but this is the first I've heard about health insurance.  Surprisingly, the insurance agency said that probably 50% of their clients use it.

The vet clinic doesn't actually take pet insurance, you would pay up front then be reimbursed.

$300 Annual Deductible; $5,000 Annual Max.
70% Reimbursement; Includes 24/7 Pet Telehealth

Dog (8 weeks to 10 years)     $18.36 per pay period (26 pay periods)
Cat  (8 weeks to 10 years)     $9.40

I normally do my own vet work, but I had one bad year a while back that this would have paid off.

That isn’t all bad but nearly $20 a dog would get pretty steep if you have several.  I guess though a person could pick and choose which dogs they insured. I wonder if they would insure hunting dogs? Are you going to try it?

I have thought about it. I have friends who have bought dogs from me in Sweden and Norway and they insure their dogs. Not a bad price at all. Do they really cover Hog and bear dogs where the risk is a lot higher?

No, I don't intend on insuring any of my dogs......I didn't look into the stipulations, but the write up in the pamphlet did not have any specifics on types of dogs. The insurance is provided through Pet Partners, and it claims to cover routine visits to emergencies.

No, I don't plan on getting insurance on my dogs......I did not check into the stipulations, but I did not see where it discriminated against any type of dog in the pamphlet.

Pet Partners is the provider, and they claim it can be used for routine visit to emergencies.
