Title: 2/24/26 Hunt Post by: Cajun on February 26, 2026, 05:46:35 am Had Highwater and his son Wesley come make a hunt with me and me friend Mike. We got into some hogs and dogs just split up everywhere. Tried to stay with my Primetime dog as he was headed for the interstate. Finally had to tone him and another one off as he was a 1/4 mile or so from the interstate and we went back to get into the action. We headed for my Razor dog as he had been showing bayed for over a hour and we get within 450 yards. He was in a really thick nasty place. We sent a couple of dogs in there hoping to make it break but We didnt have that kind of luck. Those dogs were just hammering in there so Wes and Highwater started into them. Now to give you a idea how thick it was the whole time they were headed in, the bulldog was showing treed the whole way. Right before they got in everything got quiet. Highwater and Wes got there only to find a dead 230# sow. Those Plotts had killed her.
We get back to Mike and our other dogs and he had caught two. A listed sow and a stud of a boar. Dogs had all done good and only minor injuries. Now this only takes a minute to tell but it was already in the afternoon and dogs were whipped. We were headed out and got a rig strike. Should have let it go but it is hard to leave the fish when they are biting. Turned out and they got bayed about 250 yards in. Wes, Highwater and Mike started in but the hog kept breaking. In a matter of minutes the dogs were cut down. Pretty humbling experience but in that thick Roso Cane, a dog just cannot get out of the way. being the end of Feb. We are hunting the survivors and this hog sure knew what he was doing. We will be going back for him and hope he is still around. We’ve done it a bunch of times, I guess we are slow learners. I hate your hounds got tore up and sure hope you get him for doing it. I don’t know why those old boars can’t just try to get along. Those ole plotts just wanted to sing to him. You must have one or two in there with my kind of voice. Sounds like the dogs worked hard and you were definitely in great company.

Those dogs will be ready to get after him again soon enough. Good hunt for sure.
