OK, so let's say hypothetically ;) you buy a hog dog calendar. Maybe you want it for your office or some other place people besides you and your hunting buddies would see it. A lot of guys love the dramatic shots of a catch online, but is that something you would want to display publicly in 11 x 8.5 full color glory? Would you rather just have pictures of dogs and bays than actual catches? Or is that boring?

Depending on your answers, this hypothetically will be posted by the end of the week, so get excited :P

IF MY PICS LOOKED AS GOOD AS YOURS I WOULD POST IT ALL. OR MAKE ONE CALENDER FOR MY GARAGE AND THE OTHER FOR MY OFFICE.

i like the bay.

You take great pictures and as long as you capture the intensity in a bay then it shouldn't be boring. :) by the way that's a great Christmas present! Good idea.

I like the good bay pictures.  Big ole boar hog backed up with dogs chopping in his face or action shots of a hog running the dogs or them trying to stop him.  The dog pile pictures really arent all that great to me.

I'm with pig snatcher, 3-4 bay dogs just hammerin on a hog.  I'd buy a couple. :)

my idea of a kewl pic is 4 or 5 bay dogs hammerin on one in a neat place like in front of a cave or ledge or back up against a bluff but i guess for you east texas boys yall dont get much bluffs or ledges over there ;D

Bay's are way more intresting than dogs hanging off of one to me.... JMO

your bay pictures are awesome and very professional. I like the bay shots personally, nothing like seeing a dog work a hog, the intense moments.  Like others, if you are considering a calendar, let me know.

I LIKE ALL THE ACTION SHOTS BAYING PICS(NOT IN THE PEN) USUALY TELL MORE OF A STORY THAN THE CATCH. JMO..  I THINK GOOD ACTION SHOTS PERIOD.

Id say bays, maybe a couple dogs getting thrown in the air would be pretty cool.

Hunts pretty much over when the catch happens (not all the time, but let's say 85% of the time ;) ) While the bay is the meat and taters...

You got good bay pictures, they tell more than a Great catch picture IMO

I think it would be really great if you did a pen one and a woods one.  If peoples dogs are in it they will probably buy several to give to their friends.  As much as we like to see a caught hog, the reason so many bay pens don't allow cameras is because sometimes catch outs happen and there are several states that had pictures of those catch outs used by animal rights activists to shut down competitions.

I agree, I know I 'll probably catch some heck over this, but I just don't like the idea of the public seeing hogs worked or bayed in a pen. Although I respect the sport and believe it has its place, I just think alot of non- hog doggers may feel bad for the hog because he has nowhere to go. JMO Let the thrashing begin >:D

   I like pics of a bay(woods,not pen). I see got2catchum's point and agree in a way. Pictures of dogs hammering away with no blood showing would be cool but not a pic of 6 dogs baying a hog with blood/ or no blood. To really show off our sport and make it look good is to have pictures of hog dogs up close,on the track,etc.
   If this is for TDHA then the calender should be of ALL types of hunting dogs.

I agree, if this is for TDHA, then there should be all types of game on it not just hogs.  Regardless, put me down for one!!!

Baying in the woods.

I agree i like the bay pics also.  Might even put a pic of a dog getting his butt threw up in the air.  So the people against hog hunting wont feel so bad for the Hog. ;D

I prefer bay pictures in the WOODS, although I wouldn't mind a least one or two catch scenes if they are done right.  The catch picture should be at the point of impact or shortly thereafter to capture that split second transition from an intense bay to a bar room brawl.  Dog piles and those type of catch pictures are not calendar worthy IMO.

Thanks for all the opinions guys! I'm actually surprised so many people are on the catch-less side. That is what I would prefer as well. Of course it is incredibly difficult to get good bay pictures in the woods. 99% of my woods pictures are the dogs running or dogs caught. But it should all be worked out in the next day or two.

And no, this isn't for TDHA, but it will be to support another non-profit. It'll only be hog dogs and it will have bay pen pics. Even with all the pictures I have, I don't have 12 good woods bays without a dog on an ear rolleyes

What is the other non-profit?

It's for the National Lacy Dog Association. But I guess it is supporting TDHA as well, we are bookmarking any funds raised from this calendar for our Hunt for the Hungry sponsorship. One big happy family ya know :) But that's why I'm only using my hog dog pics, because then it's just a donation from me to the NLDA and cuts out the red tape.

Man, I didn't want to get in to everything before the calendar was done! I guess I really gotta get it finished ASAP now :laugh:

The bay pics are the best to me...I take bay pen pic too..I was think about making one for my husband...I have alot of bay pen pics of your dogs and other people dogs...I love it...I think you should make one of the bayings... 8)

make sure if you make this you show some Yellow Dog love now. not that your Lacy's are pretty or anything.  :angel: they are really good looking dogs.

My suggestion would be to show a good picture of the dog and a list of it's breed and age and then a large picture of him or her baying a pig.   That way it gives credit to the breed or cross breeds that are available.

No blood or catching. IMO. Besides that I want to see it all!

I would love to replace my wife's wiener dog calender with a different hunting dog calender for a change!

yes defanatly bays  i love to watch dogs work  and maybe if you can get one a pic of the catch dog coming in to the bay a few seconds before the catch  but bays defanatly

i would love to see a calender with nothing but all bay pictures.....

no dogs touching the hog....just real baying in the wild..
