Title: Re: what would you do Post by: Cristina on December 18, 2009, 10:22:20 pm Yeah, I have to, and the last litter out of 9 I have 4 left and it was from worms and one that got parvo. When I first started with the 9 puppies I gave them the same thing you did three died that night and then another died the next day I was left with five and what I did was I went to the feed store and bought them panacur made them drink lots and lots of pedialyte and gave them probios for their stomache, fed them chicken and rice baby food and watched them closely and they made progress except for one she would get better then get worse and etc. In her case I was still only worming her but with the same de-wormer you used (I stopped the panacur) and gave them all their shots, but then she got parvo, I looked up on it and they can get poisoned from the wormer (if you gave wormer and then vaccines the next day) cause the parvo messes up the lining in the stomache (so it is raw) and the wormer poisons them (dont know if this is true I read it and it made sense because the puppy sounded like her stomache hurt) anyway she was about 10 weeks old. I have four puppies now free of any worms and have had their shots and they are 3 months old now, this was my experience, I hope your pups make it and this helps you out.

Title: Re: what would you do Post by: buddylee on December 19, 2009, 07:05:20 am I use Pyrantel and have given it and shots the same day without any problems. It does say not to give it to really sick animals.
Title: Re: what would you do Post by: BULLMASTER on December 19, 2009, 10:13:16 am Thats isnts the first time I have heard of people having problems with that wormer.I only use Ivemec paste and have never had a problem.I once saw an old man accidently shoot a whole tube down a puppy while he was drunk,I thought the pup wold be dead in a few hours but I went by the old mans house the next morning and the pup was fine,I couldnt believe it.Sorry to hear about your bad luck and hope the rest of your pups do alright.
Title: Re: what would you do Post by: AnthonyB on December 19, 2009, 12:42:08 pm I thought I had the same problem a week ago. started worming a pup and she started going down hill. turns out she had coccidiosis. a lot of people I know have had pups that have come down with it, and these are people that I haven't been to their house for a long time, so it's going around. you can use sulmet or corid to treat it.
Title: Re: what would you do Post by: TexasHogDogs on December 19, 2009, 04:02:06 pm You know what I had one do the same thing and died about a week ago gave him some D-worm I was out of my regular stuff he got sick and was dead in two days. Hummmmmmmmmmmmm and come to think about it I gave two of my older pups that are about five months old some to and both of them got sick .
Hummmmmmmmmmmm! Interesting ! Title: Re: what would you do Post by: AnthonyB on December 19, 2009, 06:47:18 pm The coccidia is usually carried by birds and can effect soft footed animals. All it takes is for a bird or any infected animal to crap on the ground and a pup step on it, then they will get it. When you see bird crap that has blood in it, that's what it is.
