Title: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: Dirtydog on January 05, 2010, 09:41:01 am GOING TO GET A BACK UP SYSTEM FOR THE GARMIN AND NOT SURE WHAT ONE TO GO WITH. ANY SUGESTIONS ? I PREFER COMPACT. THNX.
Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: Circle C on January 05, 2010, 09:51:49 am If you want compact go with a Tracker Maxima 5000.
That said, I sold my Tracker and bought a Quick Track 6000 and have had no regrets. I have the compact folding antenna, for the size, but the Yagi is better for getting a direct signal. Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: bghogdogtx on January 05, 2010, 09:54:03 am I agree Tracker is the most compact that i am aware of
Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: Mike on January 05, 2010, 10:04:39 am I wouldn't worry about being compact if it's a back up and finding your dogs depends on it. Yes Tracker is compact, but i've had to pull out the old faithful Quick Track and come find many dogs for people that Tracker couldn't pick up. Pull out the big "tv antenna" so you can reach out and find them. You can always leave it in the truck, or strapped to the 4-wheeler... but it's there when you need it. Don't sacrifice comfort for your dogs lives.
And at the rate people are selling their systems to get a Garmin... you should be able to find a helluva deal on one. ;) Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Go with the Quick Track it is much more pin point on where the dogs are and alot more trustworthy, i owned both and the Tracker has trouble in creeks and heavy thickets. None with the quick trac.....(How was that Mike ) Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: Mike on January 05, 2010, 10:50:11 am You sound like a salesman Mike ;) ;D... None with the quick trac.....(How was that Mike ) Good sales pitch... you wanna job? ;D But really, the Quick Track is very simple to use and proven itself in the field many, many times side by side against other systems. Where it really shines is when you have a ton of interference... power lines, airports, chemical plants, air force bases, etc... I hunted for a few years without any system at all, after hunting with several others and seeing them perform is why I chose Quick Track. Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: elliscountyhog on January 05, 2010, 11:10:20 am Yea i would love to be a pro staff for quick trac i need a system my self to back up ;D
Good point on the interference alot of times we where near power lines with the tracker and we had to drive a good ways away to get the staticy beeps with the quick trac no problems and i had the short attena. Man i cant wait to get my new system now ;) Title: Re: BACK UP COLLAR ? Post by: outlaw on January 05, 2010, 12:00:32 pm get a marshall!in my opinion they are the best out there.
