Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: sfboarbuster on February 01, 2010, 12:42:30 pm I would have to say that the best knife would be a sharp one and leave it at that

Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: olde sarge on February 01, 2010, 09:52:51 pm buckhunter1983, I prefer an 8" blade but some one earlier posted the most important thing which is a hair popping sharp blade. Learn to sharpen it properly and do it religously. I use a coldsteel OSS which is sharpened as a double edge. John
Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: WAARHEID on February 01, 2010, 11:46:48 pm That's kind of like asking what the best breed of dog is... doubt there is a best. My own personal preference: Cold Steel - OSS Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: PEEWEE on February 03, 2010, 05:20:14 pm i like my cold steel oss works great

Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: mikewood on February 04, 2010, 09:48:49 pm I am looking at this myself. It seems a 6" blade is plenty most of the time.
But when it's not you need an 8" or longer knife. I would check cheaper than dirt for a surplus bayonet. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ZAA353-1.html Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: Eric on February 05, 2010, 06:21:22 am BUCK 119

Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: WAARHEID on February 06, 2010, 08:55:37 am I use a cold steel boar hunter. Has a great point on it and easy to keep REALLY sharp. I have their OSS and really like it, the Boar hunter's double hilt kraton handle was borrowed from the OSS. But I've never seen their Boar Hunter model in the flesh. Does it have any advantages over the OSS? Just curious. Title: Re: what type of knife? Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on February 06, 2010, 11:15:44 am I carry a Bayonet for the M1 Garand, here is a reproduction for only 40 dollars. Good length and balance, locking hard scabord is a big plus.
