Chance, are you going to put those boys of your on the Mechanical Bull at the Expo that weekend?

I think all the cowboys here on ETHD should get a jackpot going and have a little bucking contest, after all the hogs are weighed in

Chance, there may not be a mechanical bull after all, seems the guy that was supposed to bring the machine decided he wanted to charge more for it than originally quoted. They are looking into another company so it may or may not have the bull there. I was really looking forward to the thing. Oh well! :-\

IF YOU MAIL IN YOUR REGISTRATION OR YOU ENTER ON-LINE THERE IS NO REASON TO SHOW UP ON FRIDAY.  THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT "PRE-REGISTER".

But remember you cannot start hunting until 5pm.  I promise the polygraph will ask this.

Ron,

Do you have any idea when the final rules will be in place?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, finale rules will be posted in a day or two, we are looking at 2 or 3 small issues that are important and we will have them up.

Thanks,
Paul T

Thanks Paul.   I know some teams don't want to send in their entry fees until the final rules are posted. If they happen in the next few days, that should give those teams close to a week to get their money sent in.

I haven't hunted in this tourney so I have a few questions. I saw on the site your hog can be disqualified if the meat is no good but you want the weight to remain so is everyone field dressing the hogs and placing them on ice? If I get lucky and the 2 boars are still in this location I know of the combined size and weight of these beast will take a truck bed to keep them chilled all weekend, so how do you guys that run this tourney keep the meat good thru the weekend till weigh-in? Give me a little insight, I haven't entered yet but considering it..

Critter Catcher,

The years that I have hunted the contest, we have always used a walk in cooler to keep the field dressed hogs cold. Then before we head to Hallettsville, we pack the body cavity with ice to ensure that they stay cold.

Critter catcher, also some people will catch and tie the hog, then hold in a trailer and wait until sunday morning to dispatch and field dress it.

Paul,
If you don't mind me asking, what are the 2 or 3 issues that are still not resolved?

i'd have to go with this route.  if the hogs are big enough were you think meat preservation may be an issue save yourself some trouble and just tie em and then dispatch the hog WITH A KNIFE ONLY that morning before you head out.

Good luck to everyone.
