Title: “Red Dog” All healed up, Quick hunt!! (Pics) Post by: ktchemwcurs on February 18, 2010, 07:47:16 am Red Dog is a big red cur dog and on Christmas night this past year him and Rookie bayed and caught a good boar with 2-1/2” teeth. Well it took a toll on both of them. Ripped Rookies shoulder open, but Red Dog was much worse. He was split about 3” between his two ribs and had punctured his lung. I thought he was dead but we got him up and stitched him up so he would at least keep his air in because air was blowing out of the cut and was not going into the lung. After the Vet told us how much it was to fix him we decided it couldn’t be that bad because he was not loosing his spirit or anything. He walked around playing like he wasn’t hurt at all. So with some high dollar antibiotics and three week in the house sleeping on the couch he started healing up. Well last night was his first night in the woods and Its amazing how you forget what kind of strike dog you have when you have gone without him for a couple of months. HE IS AWSOME! Anyway last night we caught these two in 30 mins with just Rookie, Red Dog, Tess(pup),Bell(pup) and of course Spanky! Rookie caught the first boar by himself. That’s why I like to KTCH UM WITH CURS!!!!!!
Also Red Dog rolled out by his self on the second hog, bayed it up till Rookie and Tess got there. I think he is back with a full recovery!!! He is one heck of a strick dog and will stay with a hog for hours. I would have definantly be heartbroken if he would have not been able to hunt anymore but I think he is fine. He was't even winded the other day and he run for a while.

My freind does it like you with no bulldogs, they catch when he gets close....Do you think it shortens there hunting life, as letting the bulldogs get beat up? Rookie is 5yrsold Red Dog is 4yrsold Spanky is 4yrsold We catch over 200 a year and they are still in good health.
