Title: Taking a dog out of heat? Post by: johnf on February 21, 2010, 05:52:58 pm got a hunt on the 4th one of my bitch dogs is startin in heat .gonna be out of town huntin for 3 days realy would like to take her.wondering if anyone has ever took 1 to the vet to have a heat stopped.

I know our vet won't use it anymore for that reason. I heard of a pill given daily but could have effects on her ability to breed later.

There is a powder called Heat X that is suppose to cover the smell of the female. Not sure how well it works, I have never tried it. You can find it on Huntsmart.com.

My buddy heard to do that and i think all that did was help the male dog.lol It worked for a little bit but as they run it comes off. Needless to say he was purty upset that night.

The vet advised that her cycle would be diffierent from then on and that she may not be able to breed after that. |
