They used to give a birth control shot, the human 3 month shot,  but it can have ill side effects. I know our vet won't use it anymore for that reason. I heard of a pill given daily but could have effects on her ability to breed later.

/if you really want to take her and she is in heat. A friend of our suggested rubbing Vicks over that certain area and it works. The male dogs usually leave them alone

I've heard that, but never tried it.  If it works holler at me cause my bitch catch dog is in heat too.

I know it is too late to help you this time, but this might help in the future. There is a powder called Heat X that is suppose to cover the smell of the female. Not sure how well it works, I have never tried it. You can find it on Huntsmart.com.

Dont believe that carmex works. The lip balm stuff. My buddy heard to do that and i think all that did was help the male dog.lol It worked for a little bit but as they run it comes off. Needless to say he was purty upset that night.

Your vet can give her a shot that will take her out of heat. We had it done to one of our dogs at work. The vet advised that her cycle would be diffierent from then on and that she may not be able to breed after that.
