Title: A buddy's hunt 2.20.10
Post by: Noah on February 23, 2010, 10:24:40 pm
This here is a Donny Friggin Woods hunt folks!!!  Be prepared for some honest opinions once he figgers out how to post on this site!!! ;D

Naw, ol' Donny is the first person I ever went doggin with back in the day... my hog dog mentor.... and he sure created a monster ;D  The dogs I currently hunt.... Snappa, Shiner, and Chub are out of his stock, and I give him full credit for what I'm working with now.

He's still figuring out the "unspoken rules of the land"   ;) :D  (First off I had to explain to him you can't just come right on here and call everybody a jacka$$ ;D... oh... the learning curve of these forums ;) ;D)

On to his last hunt...  Being from south Florida(where hogs roam the earth like stars in the sky.... almost like Texas....;D)... ol' Mr. Woods gets a call from the orange farmer down the road that the boarhog that's been rootin' up his pasture is at it again....  So he loaded up ol' Mullet and Joker and went to take care of bid-ness...  Once there he dropped the dogs and they bayed the boar up in a thicket... a friend sent in another cur and Joker tried the hog, but got slung off... He went right back and this time got a grip, and the other two piled on.

Good boar with more teeth than shows...(I've got to teach him how to take "internet photos" ;) ;D)  An older boar, with real good whetters.  He got some good licks in on the dogs, but they'll all be fine.

This is Mullet and Ol' DW, one of the finest hog dogs I've ever been around.  Mother to my Snappa dog, aunt to my Shiner and Chub dogs.

Another good silver boar he caught recently...

Hopefully he gets his a$$ on here soon so he can educate us all on what we been doin' wrong!! ;D ;D

I can sure see the family resemblence between Mullet and your dogs. So Shiner and Chub are out of Mullet's sister? Where is she at, Donnie still have her too?

Noah do you know how the mullet dog is bred?  I can see the bird dog in her but didn't know just how much.  That silver hog is wall worthy, never caught one that color of any size.

Matt, Mullet is 1/2 english pointer(the dam, which was a good hog dog in her own right.... just tended to yip once she jumped) and 1/2 FL cur(RCD bred FL cur, bred specifically for stopping power, grove type dog).  The gyp has flat out got a motor... like the energizer bunny... that bird dog blood sure brings some hustle when the right cross clicks...
