Title: Friday hunt good boar , bad lady
Post by: BoarBuster67 on February 27, 2010, 10:56:46 am
Started out around 8 yesterday morning with a friend of mine from huntsville. Dogs struck a hog and off to the races we went . They ran it about 400 yds through the woods and we killed the bikes to listen, all of the sudden this boar runs about 50 yds from us and was looking behind him, never noticed us. I was about to cut the catch dog loose and glad I didnt because he broke when he seen the calvary coming. They opened up on him shortly after and went about 700 yds across a good running creek. I got to the bay wet and cold tied the boar up and headed back to the wheeler when one of my dogs opened up, he was baying the tied hog because the tied hog slipped a leg and was standing, he was still tied to the tree but I had to wade across the creek again. Got on two more bays that day and lost a yellow cur dog a buddy of mine bought 2 weeks prior, a lady calls and said she found the dog and that the dog was starving and wounded and he was not getting the dog back, she said the dog ate two hamburgers and was starving , I told her my min dauchtsun would eat two hamburgers if it was full. Got the law involved and trying to get warrant issued for theft and already have Harris county warrant team in place to make arrest.

Good hunt. I hope all goes well in getting the dog back. The dog looks to be in good condition. Fat dogs can't catch hogs.

I wonder why the foks out there do gooding for dogs never have issue with folks for having obese dogs? I would rather see a fit dog showing a little rib than an obese dog. Less health risks. I have a 13 year old purebred who has outlived every other dog I have ever owned. He is chronically on the thin side no matter how much he eats or how much you worm him. He isn't emaciated, but if that yella dog is "starving" then my purebred needs to be rescued too. Do gooder lady can bring back that yella dog and take my dog in on trade. Then she can see first hand that some dogs just don't carry "housedog weight" no matter what.

Cheers
M

People love to judge others. Then they mess up a good hunt. Hopefully you will get a cop that hunts. Feeding a dog a cheeseburger is not healthy. She better not get the dog sick!

I am rolling on the floor!!!! Not that long ago, a buddy of mine is running his dogs in La at night which is completely legal. The dogs get on a boar and he runs clear across a swamp and the guys have to get back to the trucks to get around a bridge to get them. They drive around which takes all of 45 minutes, only to find the dogs still running the hog. The stop and try to cut them off behind a house. Low and behold the owner of the house comes out as the pig is running across his back yard. Shortly after the dogs show up and stop at his house.

My buddy is explaining to the man that the dogs ran completely across a swamp and sorry to disturb them. He is actually showing him the screen of the Garmin explaining how it works and where it all started. All of a sudden, his crazy a$$ wife grabs the Garmin and tells him to get out of their yard. She called the cops saying that he was tresspassing, and was being cruel to his dogs. The deputies had to threaten to arrest her for theft for not wanting to give back the Garmin. Goes to show you, they have some crazy people in this world!!!!

Latest info on bad lady turns out to be bad granny, she is 76 yrs old , Walker county is trying to find her daughter to get to the bottom of it, atleast they have a name now and they will either go to jail or return dog, or both. Grannys gone wild in the month of feb, granny bank robber, now granny dog thief, maybe the same. lol

Sounds to me like you're off to a good start with the law being involved.
I hope they do what they need to to help and then slap her A$$ in the pocket book.
If not, at least by the end you should be able to get the name and location and do what has to be done to protect yourself and YOUR belongings.
Dadgum this story chaps my hind end, I hope she gets what she's earned.

I know we're all ready to prosecute but she's probably a senile old fart. tell her you'll trade her your dog for a new plastic couch cover  ;D
I'm not trying to make light of your situation but come'on, my grandma gets a little cantankerous sometimes and steal skateboard and stuff from kids and says she'll only give them back to their parents or some such nonsense.

Just saying,   old ladies still wanna be busybodys but they don't get much excitement no mo.

T-Bob, you right! I used to deal w/ some crazy old people when I was working as a medic. Pretty funny stuff sometimes, pretty agrivating on other days. I am 42 now, and tell my wife all the time that I want to grow old so I can get away with the stuff old people did to me on the unit. I want to take a big old dump on a stretcher one day and then laugh about it!!!!! LOL

Really, I hope this all works out well for everyone!

   j/k good luck .

Hey guys, I love my grandmothers - both of them. That said, lady justice wears a blindfold for a reason. I understand that the lady may have been old and cantankarous, but she was adamant that she wasn't bringing back the dog AND that she was getting peta and spca involved. Laws were broken, plain and simple. If she gets away with this, she will be online telling others how to get dogs out of the hands of hunters. Let an offense go unpunished, we all lose because the person gets emboldened. Let the legal process take it's course, she tells her buds (old and young) about her going to jail over a dog. You can see where "making an example" is just as much to punish the guilty party as it is to thwart the attempt by others in the future. I have to say that if my lovely English Nana pulled this stunt (which she wouldn't anyway - but if she did) I would hope that even she were prosecuted for it.

Not knocking grannies, just stating my opinion on people who take it upon themselves to take what is not theirs.

Cheers
M

Lady justice might be blind, but judges and jury's are not.

When I was working for the conservation department I had an opportunity to work as a guide on a special turkey hunt for the disabled. On the first day I called in birds for my 'client', he got one, and everything was going fine. On the second day, I called birds in for him again. He got impatient, I was telling him to wait until he had a better shot, but started shooting against my instruction. Chaos ensues, the birds scatter, he takes a second shot. When the dust settles we look for his bird... turned out each shot had taken a different bird... he shot two birds. The spring limit is two, he had taken three. Myself and the rest of the field staff were seeing red and since I had the hunt on video, we wanted the book thrown at him...

The agent shows up and we ask him what he's going to do. He says "Nothing. Have you ever heard of a sympathy-case? If I cite this guy and we go to court the prosecutor won't have much interest, and the judge is going to give me a dirty look... 'did you seriously write this paraplegic guy in wheelchair multiple tickets because he shot one too many turkeys??' ".  So instead, he gave the guy a 30 minute tongue lashing that would have made the biggest man feel small. We just sat there shaking our heads.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that it's sometimes the reality when you have a highly sympathetic defendant.

Double standards are crappy no matter what they relate to. The idea that I would be prosecuted because I am able bodied and someone else gets a pass because he has a disability gets me hot. Being old or having a disability does not constitute having immunity when you knowingly break the law. I know that's just how it is and that nothing in life is fair, but I can still be bothered by it. Grrrrr.....

Cheers

Btw waarheid, I like reading your posts and perspectives even when we disagree on a subject. You seem quite well learned and cool headed to boot. Sometimes I walk away feeling differently than I did before reading what you had to say - just not on this one - I'm still agitated over the bird deal  ;D

Allright I didn't know peta and the SPCA-HOLES were involved.

In that case, the legal system is DEFINITELY called for

My apologies  ;)

on many deer leases hunters think it is ok to shoot a treaspassing dog (some hunters think its legal). thats because one hunter shot a dog, told other hunters, and now the other hunters think its ok, and the cycle continues and spreads...... well.. i think its time to reverse that train of thought. if someone shoots a dog or steals a dog, do everything you can legally to them, they will tell other hunters/peta wackos/grannys and they will be scared to touch your dog and we know grannies gossip so the fear will spread.

and for the people that think she shouldnt be punished.. what if she didnt call the number on the collar and just kept the dog?

ppl need to understand that fat athletes cant perform...theres a big difference in malnourished and in shape....nxt time somebody says that your dogs look thin ask them how many fat basketball players they see running up and down the courts day in and day out...and just b/c she is old and payed her dues doesnt give her the right to take another individuals property...taking a skateboard from a kid is one thing but to take something from an adult is totally different...and if you cant get the dog back legally hit me up ill be more than happy to prance in her yard knock her door and steal the dog back from her just as she did to you ;D...man stuff like this burns my backside buns up  >:D
