Title: Just Finished my Hog-Dog trailer
Post by: Black Gold on July 09, 2008, 04:59:47 pm
I had an old trailer that I had built a few years ago to haul 350 gallons of water to our boars.  After it was not needed I decided to transform it to my hog-dog trailer.  I built two seperate dog boxes (2.5' X 4' each) on the front and left enough space to put my fourwheeler on back.  Made the boxes extra tall for my staghounds and added a ramp to the back of the trailer.  Had a sheet of aluminum diamond plate that worked perfect to cover the top and ramp.  Also added an 8 gallon aluminum water tank for the dogs that I had laying around.  Covered the whole thing in "Ugly Dog Orange" and slapped some stainless full-moon hubcaps on to dress it up.  Added lights and a few stickers and it is ready to go.  Should be different enough that no one will want to try and steal it..... :D

It is 4 feet wide and 12 feet long....

Looks good!  You'll enjoy that trailer!

The water is a good idea.  I did that to mine but for the purpose of wetting and cooling down hogs we had caught and loaded.  It seems to help, as there for a while we were losing a fair amount.  I expanded on my idea later and re-did the system using a 6 gallon marine fuel tank and connected it to a 12 volt demand pump (like an RV waterpump).  Plumbed a faucet on the side of the trailer to hook a hose, or use just as is to rinse hands or clean off a backstrap.
