We recently got one of Josh at L3's "one out breatplates".  I think it would suit you fine for your dog.  Give one a shot.

my strike dog does the same as yours.  i run a vest from Bay Head Cut Vest, the regular length vest. its 3 layers & durable, but its light weight & doesnt slow him down.  JMO

Be careful starting him with it.  Right now is probably the worst time.  The dogs aren't used to the heat yet and get hot easy.

depending on the temp where you hunt at, you should go ahead and start the vest on him so he can get acclimated to the internal heat buildup from the vest, but keep a close eye on him and make sure he get pleanty of fluids. unless its winter yr round heat build up is always gonna be something to watch out for, limit his wear time of the vest and take it off him/her when traveling from spot to spot so the dog can cool off. thats what i do with my dogs when we move from 1 location to another.
