Some pups a friend and I have produced over the last yr.   This is Bo, neat dog, 6mnth old that thinks he is a finished catch dog.   Cool as a cucumber, but you point him at an angus bull and he'll put on a show.   This dog has never shown fear of ANYTHING,  may be bravery.... may be because he's too dumb to be afraid ;D   Everybody likes this one.

Shiner and Chub.  Both of the parents to these pups are bad to the bone one out dogs.  Med+ range dogs, that catch all under 150 and "might" bay a bad one.   Very successful dogs and both are alive and well at over 7 yrs old, hunting regularly.  Really looking forward to hunting these :)

4 mnth old Shiner,  been turning out shoats in the woods for her and it's like turning a cruise missile loose... press the button and wait to hear the "boom" ;D   Fun dog already.

good lookin pups noah, i really like those white ones, what are they?

They are  yellow cur(Dad looks a lot like Realdog's "Scar" dog) x 1/2 yellow cur-1/2 pointer(75# fem).
English pointer's where they get the white from(which I don't really care for, but it sure gave 'em good drive in return)
They were breed by my buddy in south Florida.  Same father as my Snappa dog. 

I had to call the whole family in here to see those white dog....They are gorgeous!

Thank you, I am really proud of them, not to mention what they actually are already doing with a hog ;D  I don't know if I've said it over here yet, but all my dogs(males(cut or soon to be cut) and females) are raised together in a couple acre pen.  NO KENNELS.  They run, play, fight, and learn to work together from the day they're born.  From what I've seen, it produces optimal developement of what each dog's physical potential is. 

Gave a couple litter mates to a friend who still(old school) keeps them penned up most of the time.  The difference in the dogs is breathtaking.  Mine run circles around his, and just simply have "bright" personalities. 

I also try to keep my dogs lean their entire life.   From the research I've studied of race horses, it's proven that the leaner horses still develop just as well as their "chubbier" conterparts... however, they have less injury due to joint/ligament stress from carrying excess weight.   Just food for thought ;D


Anyone else have any prospects they're proud of?

I usually keep my dogs loose in the yard, except for the female with the pups, she's in a kennel, and when I have company over I put others in kennels. I do wonder sometimes when a fight breaks out and I got to seperate it, is this the day I'm gonna lose a finger? lol

I brutally enforce a "no fighting when I'm around" rule.    I don't "separtate" anything, but I do make sure to convince the offenders that it is not an option when I am present.   I  learned a long time ago, the most important ideal when training animals is to "speak softly but carry a big stick ;D".   Having said this, the quickest way to get bit is to try and "pull" dogs apart.   I "drive" them apart... and into the ground ;)   I use a short stick to convince them to back down.   I only use as much force as necessary to make that particular dog understand that he is wrong, then immediately ask both dogs to come to me.  No fear, just respect.

On the other hand,  when on their own,  I believe the only way they will respect each other is to be left alone to establish their own hierarchy.    I've seen wonderful dogs mutilated from lack of socialization and not knowing how to interact with other cur dogs.   Saves trouble, and dogs,  in the long run IMHO.

Disclaimer:  If the mods think this is too "real", feel free to pull it, as I certainly don't want the public to mistake this for abuse(if they could only see what Caesar Milan does behind closed doors ;))

OK my prospects are smaller...and younger but prospects none the less! They are 7wks old...parents are jamup hog dogs so can't wait to see what these pups do!

I like that color also. My first set of dogs turned out to be sh## eaters so I have been a little more patient and a little more research!! Their Momma struck that 315lb barr Saturday night and the Dad (Trapper) is our lead strike dog.

Never seen a Lacy in person, is that what most of the good ones look like?

Lacy dogs are great on hogs and they are silent on track. Trapper is Text book standards so theoretically yes all the good ones should look like him  ;D  Lacy dogs come in three color types, blues, reds, and tri's (blue with tan trim and white brisket & paws)

They were originally bred in the 1850's for hogs..but they track wounded game very well too.
Growing up in Burnet county we pretty much knew the Lacy like most folks know a Labrador

Good looking Lacy's, BayedBlue!  How rangy are those two?

Noah-  The Blue Lacy is actually the official state dog of Texas.  Only recognized breed that actually originated here.  I've hunted around some pretty good ones, and have a friend who is a breeder not far from here.

Grittydog- Awesome looking confirmation on that pup all ready!  Thats a great looking chest!

JDT - That pic of grittydog's is a David Thom's bred pup.  (Guy you were asking me about)
 

Ellie girl has always been an awesome "bay" dog or help dog until this year when she has decided to start striking out on her own. She is medium range dog until she is on a hog then she'll chase it down for as long as it takes.

Trapper has always gotten out there and found pigs and we have to use the tracking system quite often with him. The longer end of medium but he's not a hound. The one time we thought we lost him to a boar he was 2 1/2 almost 3 miles away, he held the hog despite taking a gut shot that required vet attention and surgery. Thought he was a goner, so did our vet until the next morning when he scaled the kennel run the vet had him in and he was out running around. Was about 180lb boar that laid Trappers pancreas out and punctured his intestine. Would never know it now...if it's possible I think it made him hate hogs even more.

Here are two on my up-and-commers that I'm most excited about.

First is Daisy.  She carries 39.5% Weatherfords Ben, and 50% Double Line Bred Wright's Bounty Hunter blood.  If the genetics work in her favor, she should be a real hum-dinger.  I've had her in the pen three times and she'll flat lay down on a hog from first sight.  She is ready for the woods, and will start traveleing soon.

Next is a little brother to my main man Zeus.  He is 1/2 AB, 1/2 Dogo and if he follows in his brothers footsteps, this team should be able to put the SMACK down on anything I've ever come across!

Misty, Bryant, beatiful pups- clean lines, can't wait to see what they do!

Bryant, those are nice. The male I will pick up in a few weeks will be from David Thoms also, and I will be able to line breed the Ben genetics. That is if they hunt the way they should. The first time I saw a Lacy dog was in Leaky Tx, and it was a pet. but real nice like the ones posted.  They would be my next choice. I will start looking for a catch dog next, American Bulldog cross. Here is a pick up my pup at 7 weeks.
