went for a walk at one of my hot spots yesterday afternoon with the young bloke and a mate of mine. we managed one good sow. the footage is of the pups baying and my mates lead dog catching. it takes a bit to load because i couldnt compress it, its 13mb but its worth it.

this is the hardest hitting dog that ive seen and i am still not sick of watching this clip.

he was actually a stray that walked in on another property my mate hunts so his exact pedigree is only a guess (bandog X dane is my guess). he was skinny as and in really poor condition. he is the best dog my mate has owned (to date anyway)
in the clip he is used as a catch dog however he has the best nose of all our dogs and does just about all our finding i reckon he could put alot of hounds to shame. i have seen him jump from the ute to find boars 2km away (i think thats about 1.5 miles)

Well he's an inmpressive dog, that's for sure. Your mate is a lucky guy seems to me.

yep it look like he slipped off after his intial hit id say thats cause the poor old bugger has hardly got a tooth left in his head.

I have a little Colby pit that hits just like that...She is only 38lbs and knockes hogs on their butts too...she too misses a bunch on the 1st hit but is all over them before they know what is up most of the time...her name is Freija and my buddies call her "Freija Train" because she hits so hard.

I like one to go in with a bit of finess more than boll one over,I like them to get there fast but sorta pull up and catch vs just hit the hog and then catch.I never understood how some seem so inpressed with a kamakazie catch dog who could very well be short lived (like any catch dog) vs a good one with some brains that will aproach and catch with nore control....ya know???

over here we would just say its "different horses for different coarses" most dogs over here are hard like that. i have never lost a dog because he goes in hard and jet by the way is nearly 6 and im tipping he will be around to catch a few more for us for many more years to come.
