Man o man I lost a good one today.. The sad thing is it was to a non hunting accident.. It seems a bad boar couldnt kill Amos but a neighbor family friend and his .22 could.. I raised Amos from a pup and he was truely becoming a solid dog.. He was only 2 and half years old.. He found many many hogs for me.. he would do it by his self it didnt matter but he was going to try his best to find a hog.. I was really looking foward to hunting him for years to come.. I lost alot when I lost him..  Here are a few pics of him

GOD DANG this has been a S H I T week......I have been impressed with him since the first time I saw him hunt bud.  He was a good dog and one of the best yella dogs I have seen.  Can assume you and your neighbor had a little come to Jesus meeting?

Is Amos the yella dog you had with you when we hunted Sunday?

He was a good looking dog...I think I could kill someone if they shot my dog. Sorry for your loss buddy.

The best hog dog I ever owned was shot that way by trespassers. I thank God I didnt find out who did it!

Had the same thing happen to me last year...my best strike dog decided that she would become an escape artist and got out of her lot, thankfully she was shot with a shotgun at a fair distance and with smaller shot or it would have been really bad. It was bad enough as it was, she stayed gone for a couple of nights and my next door neighbor found her layed up in the woods after my wife and I had combed the neighborhood for 2 days. She still has a few pellets in her legs and one just under the skin between her eyes. The guy that found her thinks he may know who shot her,.....but I don't think that I really want to know for sure.....might not go too well for that guy. Man I'm sure sorry to hear about Amos,....what a shame and a waste.....was he running loose when this happened, just curious. Good luck.

Sorry for your loss. Don't seem like much of a neighbor if he killed your dog.

RIP Amos!!!! Anyone that will just up and shoot a dog needs some life skills.  If you know of some that need the skills send them my way I have a Dr. degree in teaching life skills.

I guess you could say he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.. Well it starts off like this.. I got off the hay bailer and went and loaded up Amos right before dark.. All i was going out to do is to make sure he was 100% broke off deer I  was pretty sure he was but I was just going to make sure since I had just aquired a shock collar thanks to Matt.. I drive back to my place and the regular doe are there I point him their way but instead of going to them he turns, along with Emily and hits the woods going the other way.. I was like dang.. I didnt have my garmin on him I was just going to refresh his memory if he thought about chasing a deer.. Well I lose em for a good hour and finally hear them bayed so I go find my brother which was at the neighbors house that shot Amos then came to my house and got the bulldogs.. Well it broke they set him down tho.. we turn the bulldogs aloose and of coarse he breaks.. I am not sure how big he was but know he was pretty large by the size of his track.. I take my brother home and I stay searching and listenin for them I stay up till bout 2 and decide to call it a night hoping they would drag in being that they were right behing the house.. Well I wake up this mornin and still they hadnt drug in yet.. I go out looking and still nothing.. I start feeding all my dogs and I hear gun shots right in front off my house and I see one of my bulldog pups that I lost last night came running up with a hole in her leg then my neighbor drives up tells me he killed two dogs.. I was thinking the worst and sure enough it was Amos..  Hank (my other cur dog) I use on hogs and cows had chewed threw his rope and got out of his pen last night.. him and my brothers dog went to that guys place and went to baying a lil calf.. Then I am guessing my lil pit puppy that I lost last night went and caught the calf.. the three of them killed it pretty..
Amos I am guesing runs over checking to see wuts going on he aint going to mess with any type of cow.. He was outside the pen laying underneath a shade tree.. He had a spot in the sand that you could tell that he had been laying there a while.. The guy tried to call my dad or so he says.. But instead of drivin a couple 100 yards to my house and tell me.. He decides to drive to his house, get a gun and start shooting.. I understand why he shot the one of the dogs but I dont understand why he had to walk up to amos which  was laying a lil ways away and shoot him in the head for no reason... he had a big collar on and a shock collar.. After me talking to him he stated saying yea i dont think he did anyhting but he had started shooting.. I dont know why he didnt shoot the dogs that where on the lil calf.. It dont make any sense to me why he shot him.. The thing is that Amos is never never out of his pen unless he is hunting or riding in the back of the truck with me.. The one time I lose him and he is out of the pen he gets a bullet.. We have 2 lil bottle calves right now but instead of messin with them they go to the neighbors. . It sucks so bad he was just at the wrong place.. I dont have a problem with him shooting the dogs on the calf.. heck if he would of came got me I woud of took care of them with him.. but he didnt do that he shot and killed the only one that was doing nothin I also would of payed for the calf and replaced it for him but instead he walks up to Amos and puts one in his head..If Amos would of been doing it it would be different but he couldnt get in the lil pen and wouldnt of barked at cow if you wanted him too.. Anyways long story.. It is always a sorry dog that will get your good dog killed.. You cant kill a sorry dog if you tried...

That sure is a bad deal right there. I enjoyed hunting behind Amos last weekend... I'm real sorry for your loss.

I don't know what kind of neighbor he is but I just can't see a man that I knew doing that to a dog I owned. He would have to pay for what he did some how....

sorry for your loss ..that aint right of him doing that to a dog that was doing no wrong ..i dont think i could have  handle it as well as you did ..fine job on your part ..i would have been under the jail if he had shot one of mine for no reason ... R.I.P  Amos

Your a better guy than I am. My neighbor would of took a beatin he would never forget for something like that. Sorry for your loss.

That just really sucks. It is your dog and you know more of the facts. But a woman scorned hath no furry like me if you shoot my dog. I sure would not be paying for the calf!
