Title: Glow sticks
Post by: NThoghunter on October 16, 2007, 07:33:58 pm
Not sure if you consider this hunting gear, but I dont leave home without em.  If you are a night hunter like me then glow bracelets are for you!  I have tried and experimented with many different types.  For a long time I would purchase them at the dollar store for 6 for a dollar.  Until I started using a company my wife told me about.  The website is sureglow.com and you can purchase a tube of a 100 ct for about $12 in any color you prefer.  I like the yellow or green ones, which are the brightest.  I have gone through 200 and only had two duds that didnt light up when broke.  They last all night and stay bright, making it easier to see your dogs and what they are doing without wasting light.  I just tie them straight to the ring in a collar or cut collar.

Never thought of using them that way.

They're also good for "marking" hogs in the dark, so you can come back later and pick them up.

Spent a little time looking for tied or dead hogs in the dark... they're not always where you think they were. ???

yeah they are very useful, I also tie one on my pack.  Spent too much time trying to remember where I laid it down to get in the water. ::)

The bracelets are the best for me.  I just tie one to the d ring of the collars, quick and easy.  Tried the tapeing, zip ties, etc...  Faster for me to just tie it once, havent lost one in the woods yet. ;D

HUH.. Nt how do you tie them with string or tie the bracelet itself to the ring?

Clay, I just tie the bracelet itself to the ring.  Just once through like a square knot, holds up fine.  I will try to post a close up pic.
