EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Finally managed to get one located after about four hunts with not even a fresh track anyhwere. Started to think I needed a new pack of dogs. Hunted with Koyote76 in Washington Ga. Had a young lady with us that goes by Huntin Dobbs that got to stick her first hog and I hope she had fun. Vegas, the crazy eyed cat in the pic worked hard all night to locaste another hog but the dogs kept running circles in a big thick mitigation thickrt in the bottom and the GPS would say they were stopped and they were seperated like they were in a group of little pigs but never heard a squeal and couldnt get into them before they would move along again. I hear you and thats what I keep telling myself...Vegas kept climbing out of his box as a small pup and i would find him standing out in the rain. He was lucky to make it I guess and he was a flashy pup..Seemed like a good name.

Situations like that I don't mind at all if they stretch a deer out... at least they get to run something.... A lot of the places we hunt the hogs are either there or they ain't... no sense in beatin' the dog up if there tryin'....

I like the looks of your yella dogs. Down our way the heat has been creeping up on us so quick we are lucky if we get one down in a day. But hey, just being able to let the dogs out and to watch them work is sometimes enough for me. (Not that I would want to make a full time job out of dry hunts or anything  ;D ;)).

Thanks HDL I like my yella dogs, Bill the one on the far right is Ben bred, very gritty, tight mouth, not much bay but man he will stop one quick, Candy to his left is just over a year out of the same line, seems to be much shorter range, tight mouth, not as catchy but was pulling hair at the bay, has a decent nose from what i can tell so far. Hoping to breed her back to Bill if she proves to be worthy next heat. I passed on her first heat since she was so young and unproven. She gets better with every run and has just about been on a hog every time out. I like em leggy, gritty and tight mouth with alot of drive. Shut that sucka down.  My woods line of cats that vegas is out of is from Speck a ice cold nosed grade female that will open on track when it heats up and finish it a couple miles down the road. Vegas seems to have potential do pick up where she leaves off but runs track a little slower than i like at times..needs to find a higher gear if hes going to run the warning siren all the way to the back door.  But I will keep working him and hope he will turn out like his dam....Priceless to me

Well if Candy just passed her first heat then she is still young. Sounds like she has alot of potential built up inside her for you. So do ya'll have alot of running hogs in your country? I swear when we first started running hog dogs we didn't have alot of these running hogs that you see now. It's like these hogs are being born with running shoes on.  ;D But, with these hogs seeming to be getting so dog smart a tight mouthed dog is something that is becoming a must in some of these places where hogs are getting dogged pretty hard.

she just needs more range but as long as she hunts even if its close i can deal with that...runners depend where we hunt and how much the havee been dogged

IM still happy that I was able to come through for her this time..i say me I mean the dogs did all the work..right, that is till you drug the beast to the truck lol
