EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

I've been wanting to hit some grainfields the last couple of wks but have been either getting rained out or have had other places to hunt but yesterday I was going no matter what.  I met Courtney at 4:00 am and by 4:45 we in the middle of a wicked fight.  My lacy stuck a good boar in the milo and it never moved.  We sent the CD's in and he was ready for them.  I'm not sure who was bringing it to who for a while but the dogs finally got it controlled well enough to leg it.  Courtney was right behind me and stuck it.  It cut threw both cut vest and wrecked my dogs pretty bad.  A couple of them are going to be out of action for 3-4 wks but everyone will live to hunt again.

VERY nice!  Sorry to hear about the dogs but that is a good boar right there.  Sorry I couldn't drag my arse out of bed at 2am  ;D

What do you guess he weighed?  From the pics looks like around 220-240 maybe??

Great hog.  Cool that your lady friend was able to lend you a helping hand.  Hope the dogs heal nicely.  Congrats again.

I'm horrible at the weight guessing game but we put a boar on the scale a couple weeks ago that went 205.  Using that 205'er as my reference point....this one was MUCH bigger.  I'd say like 50-60lbs bigger.

Super nice hog there .  Them grain field catches can be a little hairy at times with a big boar like that.  Congrats on the nice hog , I ope all your dogs heal up good and have a speedy recovery ! !

His left wetter actually had a downward hook to it which made it stick out almost 2".  Not a bad wetter.  The other wetter was completely normal.

I noticed that in the pic and was going to ask you if it got broken loose inside the gum and was hanging like that, but I guess not. Good job on this one, the rowdy ones can take a toll on the dogs. Glad they're going to make it out alright after they lay up awhile,....I say that hog weighed over 250 anyway.

We caught a hog on Saturday night with wetters just like that. And for a measly 200lb, he was one BAD DUDE!

The catch dog was on him for ~a minute and he never stopped hooking her, just one shot after another, the whole time. He cut through her vest AND collar several times. I ran out of staples putting her back together and by the end, she looked like her head was held on by a series of zippers.

I sure am glad he didn't have more than an inch and a quarter worth of cutter!

I enjoyed the hunt! It was nice to not have to run a ways through viney brush to a bay for once. That milo was a little scary when all you hear is gruntin and dogs squeelin and you cant see over the stalks. Definately an adrenaline rush. The boar was throwing dogs and was not scared of nothin. The dogs came out ok though, better than it could have been. Real proud of how well they stuck with it.
