Anyone in Florida know were I could be or have a pen to introduse a pup to a hog? No but if you find one be sure to post it.. Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: Miller Lite on August 03, 2010, 12:33:19 pm that dont take the fun out of it for yall? i'd rather say i taught that dog then someone else
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: rdjustham on August 03, 2010, 01:12:33 pm OH absolutely. I wouldnt want to drop my dog off, but id pay to use someones pen
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: Miller Lite on August 03, 2010, 01:14:13 pm i hear that .. i was lucky enough to live by a creek and a pipeline and be allowed to hunt it ... its kinda like a GIANT bay pen but they tend to get away sometimes ... i built one in my back yard we only have 5 acers of woods but its thick and a good place to put a puppy or two
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: NoLove on August 03, 2010, 03:38:39 pm If one was to drop off a dog/pup off for 125.00 and it injured a hog would that person still be held responsible? also much land is this pen on? thanks
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: gottagettem on August 03, 2010, 05:52:58 pm i would pay to use a pen .. i got a pup. that needs it..
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 03, 2010, 10:19:53 pm NO, THE DOG OWNER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A HOG WHEN I AM TRAINING THE DOG.
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: Peachcreek on August 03, 2010, 10:33:45 pm this sounds great to me.. what kind of fence do ya have? i have the property but the hogs around here just break my barbwire. hog paneling a few acres would cost alot of greenbacks. i would love to make some money while messing with the ole stinky hogs. i have a small pen i keep a couple small hogs in for working the pups but it would be neat to have about ten acres fenced for the same thing. someone would probably slip and sue my ars though
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 03, 2010, 10:36:24 pm 12 1/2 GAUGE NET WIRE
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: Peachcreek on August 03, 2010, 10:42:57 pm how tall did ya make it?
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 04, 2010, 08:59:53 am NOT SURE HOW TALL THE FENCE IS ITS BOUT AS TALL AS A HOG PANEL WITH 2 STRANDS OD BARBED WIRE ON TOP
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: jhy on August 04, 2010, 05:20:49 pm I have had large training pens (50 acres) and the best thing you can do if you havent aproned the fence on the ground is run a hot wire around the perimeter. Soon as an armadillo makes a hole they are gone if they dont do it themselves. They will spend every night walking the fence line looking for any weaknessess. Trust me! :)
Good luck! Sincerely, Joey Young Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 04, 2010, 09:04:30 pm THX BRO I HAVE A HOT WIRE..
THX EVERY 1 FOR THE CALLS Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: jhy on August 05, 2010, 12:08:14 am My buddy is putting a 317 acre pen up next month. Already got the fence and the lanes cleared. Just waiting on the crew to come install. It is going to be a high fence with hot wire. Will be keeping about 5 barrs and some nice deer in it as well. I am not one for pen training because if you dont catch the hog when the pups are getting tired or un interested you are teaching them to quit. However, I will keep him re-uped when I mess a hog up.

Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: NoLove on August 09, 2010, 04:18:46 pm ^^^^good question^^^^ how much land is this pen setting on?
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: TurdBurd on August 09, 2010, 04:38:31 pm i'll tell ya'll one thing fellas, Dustin got his chit together and has a really nice setup. I went up there on Saturday morning!!! We had a good time and my pups got some work and one of them hopefully learned a valuable lesson....
i wouldn't worry too much about how much a messed up hog is going to cost you. If your dog is that rough, you better bring your staple gun with extra staples!!! He got some rank hogs in that pen!!! Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 09, 2010, 09:06:23 pm IT DEPENDS ON WHAT IT COST TO REPLACE THE HOG.. I HAVE 146 ACRES ALL TOGETHER.. GOT PPL COMMIN IN THE AM IMA DUB SOME TEETH B4 A DOG GETS HURT BAD.
TURD HOWS YA DOG? THE STAPLE JOB HOLD? Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: gottagettem on August 09, 2010, 09:44:53 pm is this in texas.. or what... i would take my pup there... but if not in texas ... then who in texas has one....let me know...

Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: TurdBurd on August 10, 2010, 07:05:47 am He's fine, but they opened up yesterday, so i'm waiting for the vet to open up this morning and getting him stitched up right!! The vets around here are going to sh*t a brick when i bring that dog in.
It won't be long and me and my sh*t eaters will be back down ten mile road!!!! Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: FL hogdogger on August 10, 2010, 08:05:59 am Dang! im jelous! rolleyes I wish we had something like that here in FL! but i have to say I knew some $h!T eaters as well and they turned out alright. I have a Lab that they call a stick and dog fetcher. The only way to get the RCD's back is to make him "speak" and they come running! or if I need fire wood LOL! The dog aims to please but I have never been able to find someone with a pen so I could give him a command or build a hatered for hogs! But it sure does sound fun!
Title: Re: DOG TRAINING Post by: DPR412 on August 11, 2010, 05:43:26 am THATS GOOD TURD I HOPE HE HEALS FAST.
