When did what I always knew a black n tan,saddle back or hi tan colored dogs start getting called reverse bmc's ??

I think when Al Gore invented the internet.

no a real reverce bmc comes out of 2 yella bmc dogs  not some cross that come out looking that way

Ok take cross dogs outa the deal.....take two "pure" yella bmc's and you get a "reverse bmc" it is a black n tan,saddle back etc....NOT reversed....anyone have a true reversed bmc???

 What is it called when 2 reverse BMC's have a yellow pup?  Is it a reversed reverse?

i got a gyp that came out of yella dogs that the collor is reverced on her shes black with a tan mouth  and thats where the reverce cur came from the collors are reverced on the dog

A black n tan hound is a breed....black n tan is also a common color in many breeds....your dog (sorry) is a black n tan colored cur dog or bmc I think you said.  There is nothing reversed about the color vs a common yella dog.

Did this reverse thing come about w/ registered dogs? maybe a marketing gimick?

everybody got there own opinion but the oldtimers i grew up around when they talked about a black and tan they was talking about a hound not a cur dog

I have been around houndsmen all my life and I have been around cur dog men for almost 30 years and I never heard of a reverse cur in my life until I saw it on the www less than a year ago.

What happens when a tri colored beagle throws a black and tan or a lemon colored pup? You get a black and tan or a lemon beagle. Same difference isnt it?

Yall can call them a reverse cur if you like. I could care less. I just think its funny is all.

i have one that looks just like that and i always called it a reverse black mouth but every one i knows calls it a saddle back.

The oldtimers always called the spotted up dogs cur dogs leapard dogs. Now they got a fancy name, registry and everything.

With the internet everything has to be labeled. ;D

I like to label mine in two groups.......

Pot licker and Hog dog.    And I prefer more of the latter ;D

I think you would call that a yella mouth, yella leg, yella B-hole Cur, I think what Underdog is getting at if it was a true reverse in color, only its mask would the be reverse in color. A black Mouth cur, does not have black legs or black under its tail, only its mask and sometimes darkening down its back, so that would not be a "REVERSE" in colors.

I hate to through a kink in things but can a brindle dog be a black mouth also!! If not then I must be breeding mutts!!LOL

That is a question i have been dien to ask, what about the brindle BMC's,  ??? I have heard them called full BMC's but (and i dont have a clue) i would assume that the brindle ones have a little something else in them to get the stripes.    just wonderin?

BMC dogs come in a variety of colors... they're not just yella.

I think I may be crazy (not too far fetched lol) but when I was growing up a black mouth curr dog was one that had a black mouth/tongue or atleast that is what my grand daddy always called them ... I was really little but I have this different idea of what a black mouth curr dog was and for some reason remember looking in puppies mouths ???  ??? and not the color of their coat although alot of times they were yellow or a lighter color.

Black, Brindle, Red, Leopard, Yella....just cur dogs to me.

As soon as someone starts talking color to me, I lose interest...whether it is a horse or a dog, color breeders have a way of ruining a good thing.

Go find me a good yellow horse, and I bet I can find ten sorrel horses that will do the same job.

Give me a dog that hunts the way I like, and that's all I care about.   I have a black and tan cur dog, a black cur dog, a brindle saddleback plott, and another brindle bird dog lookin pup... no pattern in my kennels.

Back in the 1970's and 1980's when some of the registries were just starting up they started one that was for the brindle black mouth curs even when some of the littermates were yellow these brindles were registered or labeled as "Southern Curs".
