Title: 9/12/10
Post by: t.wilbanks on September 13, 2010, 06:06:47 pm
We let out around 4:00 Sunday morning to try to catch a couple pigs before it got too hot. We were planning on being done around 9 or 10, but we all know how that goes.  rolleyes

They strike a decent sow across the creek pretty quick, we get across and send in Meathead and he doesnt catch!  >:( The sow breaks about 100 yards before he catches up and grabs her. We get there and get her stuck, and notice its another earless sow. This make about 4 earless sows we have caught in that area. Hopefully we never run across a bad earless boar! On our way back, Festus comes running up to us with a piglet in his mouth. We looked around for more but couldnt find any.

My buddy brought Clyde the Kemmer cur he bought from me, and it seemed like everytime he struck a hog, it smoked them, running straight for a big bad thicket out there. We finally get on another sow that tries to run but finally bays up along a fallen tree. We get there and cut Tom loose, and she breaks right as we let him go, but only goes about 10 yards before she gets caught.

Its already around 9:30, but we decide to try for 1 more before heading back. Clyde and Molly strike a group and hogs and dogs scatter everywhere. I follow my buddy into the bay Clyde had, but he gets us too close and the hog breaks. We finally get all the dogs back except my pup Molly, and cant pick her up even with the long range antenna. Its getting hot so my buddies take the rest of the dogs and head back to the truck while i go try to find her. End up looking for her for about 3 hours, get back to the truck and there she is!  >:( She beat everybody back to the truck, which was about 6 miles from where they struck. Atleast she has a good sense of direction.  rolleyes

Nice hogs. I've never run across an earless hog and hope I never do. I really like the dog in the first couple of pics.
