I've owned and hunted with them a good bit. One of my closest friends has several of them and has had for years. They come from down in GA where I hunt a lot. From what Iknow they are a bulldog/bird dog cross. One of the best dogs I ever hunted with was a Campbell gyp. As with all breeds, there are sorry, better, good and super dogs in them. Never seen one that was open on track, don't think that's very common. Most of the better ones I've hunted with were pretty rough and catchy. They don't seem to be too trashy to me,.....most good ones hate a hog right off the bat. Just my observations over the years....hope this helps you out.

All i can say buddy is there is good and bad in every breed of dog that i have ever hunted ive seen jam up bmc dogs and ive seen ones that you could not give me. It all depends in that dog. One of the better dogs i have owned i never knew or would be scared to guess what she was.
