Title: Cameron Hounds Post by: jhy on October 11, 2010, 02:12:05 pm Anyone fooled with them on hogs? What is your thoughts on them? I have been looking at his stuff for years, but dont remeber too much about anyone talking about them on hogs.
Thanks, Joey Young Title: Re: Cameron Hounds Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on October 11, 2010, 02:33:04 pm ;)
Title: Re: Cameron Hounds Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on October 11, 2010, 02:39:38 pm The bottom side of the pedigree is all Cameron. I have also bred my stock onto a pure Cameron (born on Del's place). I have a couple 9 week old pups now that are very good looking pups. They are houndy to say the least. I have read about some of his dogs and they seem to look very much like the ones pictured. Smaller more atheletic built dogs. All the blues I see are usually to big for my needs in a hound. Whats the average age of this bloodline of dogs to flip their switch generally speaking.

Joey I have had them get nasty on a hog at 12 weeks however, generally speaking, it is sometime around 6-8 months. If they are not all about it at 12 months they can be tested somewhere else. For your information, if you elect to deal directly with Del, be prepared to wait 2 years. Also, you may not want to mention hog hunting the dogs in the future to him. He has been known to frown on it. That is from his mouth to my ears. However, there are always exceptions. Keep that in mind. If I can help you find something in the bluetick community, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always happy to help. Do you have any old pics of your blueticks you could post or send in an email? I love looking at the heavy Vaughn stuff. Didn't you tell me that you used to run some Arkie blood? It is getting harder and harder to find a nice solid outcross that has the looks to boot. |
