Steven, I am having trouble with my pups right now, I overdosed them on Ivomectin, I have lost two of them and 4 more are sick. I am just sick over it

That is a bad deal raider...sorry to hear that. Just curious why the ivomectin so young?

ivermectin/zemectrin/quest will put puppies in a coma,twitching, flopping,crying for 12-24 hrs some will recover some wont..4 months old is when we start any ivermec....sorry to hear it done it myself yeas ago

I let someone from my inner circle talk me into it because SHE said they looked a little wormey. I have always wormed them at 8 weeks but these were just 4 weeks. Also against my better judgement I injected it, JUST A TINY AMMNT, and it was too much. Just so everyone will know, when using Ivomec on a dog ALWAYS dilute your dose and shoot it in thie mouth NEVER inject.

Just an update, 2 of the sick pups are comming around and doing alot better but 2 of them are still pretty sick.  Got my fingers crossed! Not that Im superstitous, my help comes from above ;)

Yea D, I new better. It looks like the rest are gonna pull thru. All are back eating again and the effects are all but gone so I may have dodged a bullet with just loosing two of them.

I have seen here on this board about using ivomec for intestinal worms.

There are too many other wormers that work better for intestinal worms that are mild...

I dont know of any that work any better but with Ivomec you also have a Heartworm prevenative!  I have been useing Ivomec for 25 years and have never had a problem until now but I changed my regiment this time and it turned out to be a big mistake. You are right it is harsh when it isnt used correctly.

Glad to hear the pups are doing better.

The only reason I've ever seen Ivermectin injected for was treatment of demodex mange. For that, it works well.

Man I hate to hear that Paul. When I was young, I always wormed my dogs subcutaneously. Even the pups. Looking back, I was lucky not to kill any of them.
Muleman, If it wasnt for my wife I would have probably killed a whole litter of pups with flea spray. Thanks Goodness she seen me walk out the door with it and came to ask me what I was going to do! I knew better also.

I never wormed dogs with it sub-que but I think that is because of word of mouth, I didnt know why I gave it to them orally I just did. Since this has happened I have done quite a bit of research on the matter and have found the overwelming opinion from Vets abroad is to NEVER inject a dog!

Awe man sorry to hear about that Paul, but good to hear those other pups are making it.

The pups are comming along strong again they are almost back to normal. They fell off a little but they have thier appitites back and are starting to play again. That was a close one.
