Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: Heaven Sent Kennel on October 22, 2010, 11:47:16 pm I use fly traps. they are a pain in the but. If you have a place to keep your dogs away the sticky straps that hang down work good. I also buy the trap that screws ontop of a milk jug and set it on the ground outside the pens. Don't think there is any good way but it'll get you a start into gettin' a handle on them. also a few of the sprays work good. If you can clear your dogs out of the kennel for awhile bug bombs work 2.
Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: Easttex on October 23, 2010, 03:10:51 am Dr Kilgore told me to spray the pens and surrounding area with Pine Sol using a pump sprayer. Of course, you have to let the ground dry before putting the dogs back in the pen. It worked better than anything I've ever used before. It also kills any worms or bacteria lurking in the ground. Plus, he said it was the best combatant against parvo that he could recommend when trying to clean up your yard.

Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: Diamond G on January 09, 2011, 05:03:37 pm Hang a gallon bag of water in each pen and watch what happens. The dogs tear it down, eat the bag, and twist a gut. Not real sure if I wanna try this one. ;DTitle: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: tnhillbilly on January 09, 2011, 05:31:01 pm I seen this somewhere, but the one i saw, i think had something in the water, in the bag. Cant remember, but supposed to work.
but I agree, my dogs would find a way to get to it, and could end bad. Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: kevin on January 09, 2011, 05:39:25 pm Clean the kennels. :o
Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: Bo Pugh on January 09, 2011, 09:13:52 pm yea they say put a penny in the bag, but we did this at work one summer we put a bag of water on the ground and a piece of bread beside the bag and a fly lit on the bread, i think that i would try the sticky paper and traps
Title: Re: FLIES!!! Post by: rockinj on January 10, 2011, 12:34:19 am Permethrin-10 livestock and premise spray. Read the directions to dilute w/water and make a spray. 1 gallon will cover 1000 sq ft. And Brute for cattle and horses can be used the same way. pretty much the same stuff it is 10% permethrin. I put about 2 cc on dogs back for fleas.
