Title: Texas Threat of Breed Specific Legislation
Post by: jls41 on November 12, 2010, 11:41:16 am
It is getting cranked up and if you don't believe it will ever happen....just sit back, do nothing, and watch!!  To house a pitbull they are wanting 8' fences secured into the ground with tops!!

a very secure kennel to be a pitbull owner, however anything that looks like a pitbull to the law enforcers who are not trained or savvy about breeds (so it can be anything with a blocky head) unless you have documentation to prove otherwise will also fit this criteria. READ ALL THE DETAILS on this one folks

From what they have been doing in the past - they get these things passed within City Limits but then amend them to include entire counties....rural included.   The tough part of these is actually getting them placed in to law, it is the easiest to "kill the bill" - once the bill becomes law, they can amend with ease and it is harder to fight.

i love pit bulls and i dont have a problem with this at all.  i beleive owners of any dog should be required to keep the dog in a secure place at all times, except when not working or during supervised play/training.

i dont understand the resistance to this.  if sportsmen would show that they are responsible dog owners, then just maybe the bad publicity would ease up a bit.

i love dogs of each and every breed, but too many dog owners are not fit to have a dog.  I see too many neglected and unsocialized pits allowed to run loose, or are able to escape frequently due to negligence.

you all may think im crazy, but i am actually in favor of a state wide leash law.

if a dog is not hunting, training, or playing under supervision, he/she should be kept in a secure place.  this not only applies to large powerful breeds, but even the neighbor's little terrier that gets into the garbage.  while it's true i love dogs of responsible owners, i wouldnt mind a bit if  the others were all put to sleep.

i hate dogs that run loose. and a chain is not secure enough for a bulldog.  collars break. period
