i recently laid my little feist's first practice blood track. she did awesome.  i was just wondering, do any of you guys use blood dogs and are you able to keep them busy?  how much do you charge to find a wounded trophy?

Jeff, there are several around the board. catchrcall is the 1st to come to mind. Shoot him a pm, he's currently deployed to Iraq, but checks in every day or two here. If there's a pm waiting next time he logs in he'll see it easily.

My lacy is high energy she runs from the bay pen up to the portch chases flys for a min the runs back to the baypen then over to my ridgeback which is close to the fence then to water and then back to the porch she pretty wells keeps her self occupied.  Used to hunt her but I like her so she is back to blood trailing which is what she was started on.

I stay pretty busy on it during deer season, but i don't turn down many calls either, even if a guy tells me he's bumped the deer a couple times since it was shot, i'll still go look even though it's a really long shot that we'll find it.  pretty much the only calls i turn down are when something seems fishy, or it's just too far to drive.  as far as money, i usually just say no fee charged, gas money appreciated and let the money take care of it's self.  sometimes you get nothing, sometimes you get a paid good.  i had a guy pay me 200 dollars once for finding his deer and wouldn't take a dime back even when i told him i was robbing him.  between friends, guys on our lease, and calls from strangers we keep pretty busy and make a little pocket money.    other than deer season i have to lay out training trails for him to keep him sharp and keep his mind right.  you might look around and see if there is an outfitter local to you that you could help out when the need arises.  I had one like that when eagle was younger and i think it made him a better tracker, because he had plenty of real experience year round in his first couple years.  hope it helps and if i can be of any more help or answer any questions please ask, i love talking blood dogs.
