Title: PASSED-No dogs or pets sales in Austin Post by: uglydog on December 14, 2010, 10:34:49 pm December 13, 2010 There'll be no "Doggie in the Window" ... or anywhere else for that matter if these radical "animal rights" extremists have their way. No breeding, no sales, no pets. Austin City Council is poised to vote on a ban on all pet store sales of dogs and cats at their meeting Thursday, December 16th, beginning at 10:00 am, 301 W. Second Street. Who will be next? The extremists' new mantra is to "stop the sales" - no matter what the species of pets and no matter where pets are sold eventually. "One generation and out," as HSUS Vegan Prez Wayne Pacelle says. Tell Austin City Council members to vote "No" to this pet sale ban. Tell them that if ordinances are truly written for animal welfare or for public health and safety, they should apply to every organization handling animals in the city: the city's very own animal control facility Town Lake Animal Center, local humane societies and all rescuers. Why are these groups exempt? Why don't they need a Health Certificate and pay a $50 Fee? A sale is a sale, according to the state comptroller's office with sales tax due from everyone, including rescuers. By Lindsey Bomnin | Thursday, July 29, 2010, 01:41 PM The Austin City Council banned retail sales of cats and dogs at today’s meeting, according to David Lundstedt, vice chair of the Austin Animal Advisory Commission. The commission had asked the council to enact an ordinance for such a ban, which passed during today’s consent agenda. “This is the perfect time to have this law passed because it won’t affect any local businesses,” Lundstedt said. “But it will keep any future businesses from selling puppies and kittens.” Lundstedt and the commission had been pushing for the ban since Petland opened a store here at least two years ago. Critics had said Petland was associated with puppy mills. The store, a franchise of an Ohio-based chain, closed July 18 because of the proposed ban, its sales manager said at the time. Austin joins other cities like Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Albuquerque, N.M., Lake Tahoe, Nev. and West Hollywood, Calif. in enacting this kind of ban, Lundstedt said. http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/cityhall/entries/2010/07/29/county_approves_ban_on_pet_ret.html Title: Re: PASSED-No dogs or pets sales in Austin Post by: treeingratterrier on January 19, 2011, 12:11:19 am Just in my 45 years with dog pet stores selling any jack russel as a rat terrier or any fox terrier cross as a purebred Rat terrier and all of the horor stories i have seen or read about or knew persoanlly it is 30 years to late. Those stores are driven by money not breeding better dogs for pets or hunting. I used to have them come down here trying to buy litters of rat terriers for resell, i did nto give in and gave them away usually. I wonder how many Lacys, Blackmouth curss, Catahouals have been sold thru them, if its one its one to many, the Petland store down here is always having complaints about sick or ill bred acting dogs, you can bet they bought them cheap and dont put money in them if they can get away with it. They are not going to shut down the rich bird owners sale at there kennels are there???? There are a lot of bird dog keenls who ship American pointers all ove the usa from that county, wonder if they are affected???? Is it going to be against the law to sell a registered pit bull litter in the Austin American Stateman or from a feedstore parking lot or what exactly, i tried to get the link to open but i have no bars hardly tonite here at the ranch. Good post, needs to be watched, prob going to have to hire a lobbyist and a lawyer to keep hog doggers out of the lynch mob sound like, a person should be able to sell dogs retail if its just an individual no matter what, thsoe puppy stores all suck and need to be banned, but it they ban them we prb next, sepcially if the dog is used to hunt game with or could be deal. We had them down here in this county when both President Bushys were quail hunting and deer hunting on the old King ranch polo ranch that exxon guy will parish has now in Berclair, the secret service ran them off kinda and they were peta from Austin, mostly driving BMW's and MB' or some high dollar outfit.. Lots eere kids with leather belts and shoes or sandals as well. Not over 20 showed up at the Lazy F and they had to wait way off and all got a backgorund check and car search to high heaven. We saw them while going hog hunting at the old Jucies store at Us 59 and Fm that goes back to Pettus or Riverdale, they tried to quizz us up about why we had 3 trucks of dogs going hunting at night etc etc we just said people losing 200 acres a night of corn we live work and socialize with is why, that was years ago, cant imagine what they do now if Bush was still coming down here with the improved internet and cameras and youtuberslol
