Title: Cutter Bay Kennels at work on 12/26/10
Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on December 26, 2010, 09:05:35 pm
For those of you who have wondered what they sound like, these are for you. Notice the cur dog is only baying ( for those that doubted me ). I was hunting alone until some buddies could pull away from their families. I dumped all 6 dogs including my 20 week old Bluetick puppy Dempsey. They all did a good job. I realized after I caught the 150# boar, that all the dogs had some good pokes and scrapes. They will all be fine. Before I ever got in to them, they must have tried to catch. He earned their respect. They wanted no part of catching until I legged him by myself. I had to get knee-deep in the creek to get my hands on him. As a side note, it was snowing when I turned out, and when I got back to the truck. Herb was waiting for me when I got back to the truck. I had marked the hog on my GPS, so Herb and I drug him out. We got some good pics at the truck as well. Enjoy my version of Christmas music!

That was great. I love hearing hounds bay  8)
I had a old yellow cur that had a bawl mouth like that when he bayed.
I miss hearing him echoing in the cypress.

Open the video if you really want to hear the music.

Thanks again everyone.  It was nice to not be in a rush yesterday.  Hunting by yourself, you see so much more of what is really going on.  Very pleasurable hunt.   ;D

I know Bo well.  He has some very in shape blue dogs.  Their cardio is sick.  My stock has some Cameron blood, but they are not Cameron bred.  Bo is a straight shooter.  He hunts hard.   ;D

After watching that video I really miss my hounds, they were singing to em werent they?I would own nothing but hounds but in the area of the state I live in if you run an open dog you pretty much have to hunt alone. Those are some beautiful hounds you have there Cutter.

Pure blueticks my friend. I just prefer them like Jesse Paul likes his men, big and dark with a deep voice.

I've never played hockey in my life. No hat trick here.  I could never match John's skills at that, so why try.  Believe it or not I actually did in fact go mono-e-mono with him. I slipped up behind him. As I eased in closer(within 4 feet), I whispered to catch him. Ira kept his attention long enough for me to reach underwater, and grab his tail. Once I had him off his rear legs, I slid the blade into the sweet spot. The stream turned red, and I knew I could let go. When I grabbed him, the dogs had dove on. They held him until his body went limp. They all let go, except Ira. It was funny, the current kept the hog moving, and Ira was still thinking he needed to hold on. I finally told him it was over.  Several times before I had made my move the boar bluffed me. It warmed my blood up quick-like.  We don't get snow often, so it really made it neat for the memory bank.

You know so many people, especially around where I am at, makes it known that a open mouth dog is a no-no.. Well if they only knew that it is possible to catch big hogs with open dogs.,, or if they would have met a ole man who I had the pleasure of being raised up with, they would certainly never question that again.. Good job Cutter,, love the sound of a BAWLLLL

He killed a 4 point last weekend in front of them and has been running those white tails for 8 days straight.  They are doing good for him
