What  kind of knife and size blade is the best for sticking large boar . brand, just your 2 cent

I've found some on trueswords.com they real cheap and do the job the one I use has a 10 1/2 in.blade called the pigsticker but they have others boarbuster,Alabama slammer they all made of 440 gag stainless and if you loose them you can sleep at night cause like I said they are cheap

6 inch, sharp point, full tang with finger guard so it don't slip if you get on top of a rib, cheap. In that order.
Also, I like nylon scabbard over leather for these, better air to dry.
Leather holds moisture (blood) and the acids can ruin it (leather and steel both) if you forget to wash/dry it everytime.

i use a kbar knockoff.  i don't remember what i paid for it but it wasn't much.  so pretty much what slim said :D

I use a ColdSteel Boarmaster, 8  3/4" blade, finger guard, overall a nice knife!

When I do stick it is a home made out of a big file works like a charm if u have a little time it is sure rewarding when u stick one with something u have made ur self

Boar Spear Point Defender from Wild Boar USA/Ugly Dog Ranch. It gets the job done and at $12 if I drop I am not worried. If you are looking for a family heirloom and want to spend more money go ahead. I do also have a Winchester knife that was about $35. But I like the cheap knife because it used for sticking pigs.

My 4 inch locking case pocket knife works just fine for me when I do kill one.

I use an mtech bowie.10 1/2 inch blade. Nice grip comes with nylon sheath and under 20 bucks on ebay

My dad has started making them too.  Im not sure what he makes them out of, i know hes used a file, i think he even used a skil saw blade for one..  Really neat id love to learn i just dont have the patience..  :(

I don't have the patience either that is why it is nothing more than a sometimes hobby hog hunting and work takes up most of the rest lol

 What ever you do choose as a sticker make sure that it is as sharp as you can get it before every hunt.

I like to use those kbar klones or something similar with ablood letter, i usually take a grinder wheel and ruff up all of the metal and handle and finger guard, then i prime it with rustoluem, then paint it hunter organge and bake it in over for 3 or 4 hours, that way if u drop it at a hog stick or at night you have a chance of finding it in the mud or grass, i also took one and drilled a hole in it and got  snare wire and put one of those led tiny flashlites from Walmart so if skiing a hog i can stick the knfe in the dirt and see its light blinking to find it after loading up dogs and hogs, we used to buy the real Kbar from Col Bubbys Strand Surplus for $10 each pure usa surplus, omg those were the days!!!!

Kabar USMC survival knife with the 6 7/8" blade. Sharpen the blade and the top side of the blade about 1 inch starting at the tip. This knife is bad to the bone and lasts forever if taken care of. I soaked the sheath in lins seed oil to water proof it and this also keeps the blade from rusting.

Overall length is 12 inches and not heavy or bulky. I have cut saplings 2" in diameter and the knife still holds an edge.

I was useing the Cold Steel Boar Hunter for a good while but I started useing a different knife made by Hen And Rooster around a year ago and like it alot better. The H&R has a 10 1/2 inch blade with stag handle and will hold an edge very very good for a long time.
The knife on top is the boar hunter, the one on the bottom is the H&R.

1: i keep it in my backpack that i carry in the woods. i used it once to kill a good sow when everyone forgot their knife

2:the knife i always carry in my back pocket. used it a couple times with no problems. got it at walmart

3: my favorite when i plan on sticking hogs. sharp blade and very sharp point. slides in like the hog doesnt have a hide. i got it at academy for around $18.

4: "the pig sticker". 10.5 inch blade, not very sharp, doesnt sharpen good, dull point, does not go in easily, thick blade. good for clearing brush and as an anchor when climbing steep creeks. got it on ebay for less than $20

i use one just like the one second from the right. plenty sharp enough to get the job done. i used on a boar that went 300+ and had no problems with the length. also cheap enough that i didnt feel bad when i lost my first one. just my .02
