Title: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: Noah on January 23, 2011, 08:00:17 pm So Mark called me up last minute and asked me if I wanted to bring the meatheads down south to his "honey hole" for a Sunday hunt.... HELL YA!!! ;D
Left my house at 3am :P ;D and was turning dogs out on some big frosty hog tracks just after daylight... Mark was "gracious" enuff to let me turn my dogs out first.... I'm startin' think he may have had a reason for it now though!!! ;) ;D Snapps and the Chub struck out and picked up the track immediately, pulled down in a bottom as we tried to keep up with them with A.J. in hand... they stalled so we walked 'em down and in another 100' and heard one lone bark then the struggle :o Got a bit closer and cut A.J. in when there was still no sound but breaking branches... :-\ ;D I ran in and tried ta flip the hog, but the dogs had him sho-e-nuff bridged up... SO. I had to pull out my TOP SECRET JIU JITSIU HOG WRASTLIN' TECHNIQUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Was I sayin' somewhere that I want someone to follow me and take video????..... MAYBE NOT!!!! ;D (http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm192/aprilcmetzger/IMG_1959.jpg) Bring on the smart a$$ comments whilst I fight with photobucket to load some more pictures!!! :D ;D Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: uglydog on January 23, 2011, 08:04:25 pm Noah, I can't say nothing that the picture itself doesn't already say :o
Thomas was almost in one of those positions himself today, while I was saying "hold on I want to get a picture" and I got that "special look" Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: Mike on January 23, 2011, 08:14:10 pm Ha ha ha... Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: Noah on January 23, 2011, 08:22:12 pm So, what I was actually doing in that pic was applying my "special arm barr technique" .... after what seemed like several minutes of fightin' with this sumbeech I was starting to wonder where my back up was ??? ;D .... only to hear the sound of a camera, rapid firing!!! ;D ;D After Mark and Dave got enough shots, they bailed on an helped me finally roll the boar!

Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: Davexx1 on January 24, 2011, 06:47:11 am I was a split second behind Noah at the catch and before I could get a hand hold he had the boar off his feet and seemed to have him under control so I stepped back, pulled out my camera, and was going to take a few action shot pics. As I raised the camera and looked thru the viewfinder I noticed the afore mentioned "under control" hog is beginning to stand up :o with Kung Fu Noah on his back with three dogs still firmly attached to his head. It was definitely an interesting hog control/management technique. Mark arives and helps get the hog under "better" control so I keep shooting (pics). It was a good hog that was full of fight and was a handful to control.
Noah's dogs Chub and Snapps did well in the frosty cold temps (28 degrees at daylight). We turned the dogs into some fresh rooting that had been made during the night and they could smell the hog immediately. They headed across a broom sage field toward a distant swamp where Mark and I caught two good boars earlier in the week. Once in the swamp it appeared the two dogs made a wide loop around the hog, then thightened the circle the next time around, and then zero'd in on him and found him. The hog did not run, was ready to fight, and the stop, fight, and catch was instant. AJ, the bulldog, finished off the catch. Luckily we were close by and were able to prevent the damage from being any worse. It was a good hunt. Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: crackerc on January 24, 2011, 12:53:19 pm Okay, you guys have heard from both Noah and Dave. Now its time for the TRUTH about the Sunday hunt.... ;D
Dave and I went last Monday to our honey hole and got two nice boars that we had to shoot, since we didn't have half a dozen bulldog crosses on the ground at one time to catch them. That said, here is the truth about our hunt with Noah. Dave and I were going on Friday, but got rained out. Dave went down Sat while I was at work and looked around. He called me and said there was sign of a big hog made since the rain. I had invited Noah to go with us last Friday, but he had to work. He said if we go on the weekend, he wanted to go. We got rained out on Friday, and after Dave called me on Sat I called Noah to see if he could go Sun Morning. When I told him Dave found sign of a big hog, probably a big boar, did Noah want to go, I believe his words were HELL YEAH! So we made plans for Noah to meet me in the morning. We got there and the hog had been back Sat night or early Sun morning. It looked like a real good hog from the tracks, so I asked Noah if he wanted to sacrifice...err...I mean HUNT his dogs first.. ;D He turned out Snapper and Chubs and we headed towards the big swamp where the hogs usually lay up. The dogs acted like they could smell a track and left. They made a big loop, going out about 300 yards on the Garmin, then came back by us. We headed down along the edge of the swamp, the dogs went back in and one bark, then caught hog. Noah turned the bulldog loose and we all rushed in. This is where is gets interesting.... Noah was the first to the hog and he grabs a front leg and winds up on the hogs back. Well, Dave and I had never seen this type of manuever used to throw a hog. We figured it must be a north central Fla UFC way of doing things, so we watched so we could learn something. Dave was taking some pics, I popped some popcorn and pulled up a log to watch. After what must have seemed like a looonnng time to Noah, we noticed he was still riding the boar, but wasn't spurring too much, so we deducted points. Then we noticed he was sort of sliding towards the hogs head (I mean teeth), and that means his tender regions were getting closer to the teeth also. After what happened to my Spur dog last Feb and this past Nov, Dave and I both knew what a hogs teeth could do to that area of your anatomy. So Dave and I had a quick conference about whether either of us REALLY wanted to have to sew on Noah in that particular area. The quick answer was no, so I decided I better put down my bowl of popcorn and go help him. We finally got the hog off his feet, Dave put down his camera and popcorn and came and helped with the dogs. And that is EXACTLY how it happened folks.... ;D Poor Monkey didn't get to bay this hog, as he was locked in my dogbox, half a mile away. He may be good, but he isn't good enough to bay hogs half a mile away from the dogbox....If anyone has a dog that can, I sure would like to see him do it. We did turn him out about 1/4 mile away, but after the wrestling/UFC grudge match, the smell of burning popcorn, 8 second buzzer,us driving 4 wheelers in and getting the hog out, taking pics, etc all the hogs must have vacated the area as he never struck anything. Since the hog was tied (and mad) we decided to call it a day and get him out so he could be untied. But we hear rumours of a bigger badder boar in the area, this one is said to be spotted...so we will be back!! a few pics I took. good hunt Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: Noah on January 24, 2011, 08:42:44 pm Thanks everybody, always a fun time huntin' with Mark and Dave... If I ain't laughin' at least half the time it ain't a successful hunt in my book!!! ;D
Never been cut by a hog BigNasty... but give me time... ;) ;D I got to give it up to the story master though, I like his version way better myself !!! Mark Chesser aka CrackerC is my mentor for story tellin'!!! ;D I've said it before but he's a major reason I got into hog hunting, I used to read his stories of Dixie on Baydog and it just plain "stuck" in my brain... And I'm glad it did. Anybody can go catch a stinkin' hog... but somebody that can descibe it well is the one I like to watch!!! ... He-he... :D "Popping popcorn" while I'm getting my ass handed to me ;D CLASSIC!!!!!!! ;D ;D Lynel, no dogos on that hunt... just some rough ass Florida curs!!!! Am I the only one that will reach under a big hog to grab a forward foot to roll him?? It usually works good for me... but this was one of those "wirey" hogs!!! ;D Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: TazD on January 25, 2011, 09:39:13 am Good hog Noah, and as usual, a very funny hunt with Dave and Mark!!

Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: crackerc on January 25, 2011, 11:10:37 am Noah, I appreciate the kind words. You know you are welcome to come go with us anytime we can get our schedules together. I hunt to see a GOOD dog work. I don't hate the hogs, don't want the hogs, don't even eat the hogs anymore. I just like to see good dogs working, and do what we breed them and train them to. Thats the only reason I do this.
Course, good friends and having a good time on the hunt mean a lot also. We can go on a hunt, not catch a hog and still have a good hunt, it just depends on who you are hunting with and what you make of the hunt. BUT, the storytelling AFTER the hunt is kind of fun too!! ;D Title: Re: FUN hunt with the infamous Mark Chesser and Dave Ford!! 1.23.11 Post by: TieEmUpOrLeaveEm on January 26, 2011, 08:02:14 am NICE B0AR!
