Post by: BIG BEN on February 05, 2011, 03:50:23 pm
Well after not having a boat for almost 5 years me and my Dad went halves on a 16ft Landau flattbottom boat. I havent ever been bowfishing but am willing to give it a go. How many od you guys bowfish? Whats the best rig for it Compound or Stickbow?

I use a recurve and wade the Nolan River near Lake Whitney once in a while. Seems like I stick an old water snake bout every time I go along with carp and gar.

I did a lot of bow fishing when I was in school and for a few years afterwards. My uncle showed me the ropes. I personally prefer a recurve with only a 50 lbs draw weight. It's a lot of fun and I wish I still had time for it.
I would sure like to see some pictures once you get started.

Ill get some pics up when we start, Ive got an oversized plattform idea for the front which will have all the lights on that way I can remove it easy. And Im looking into one of those lil honda generators that are supposed to be quiet to run the lights. I just cant wait to hit the water and get some good eats, I cant stand buying fish from the market.

We are going to the river saturday. Gator gar better watch out. And dont wast your money on bows. ONLY BUY A ONEIDA. You can get screaming eagles for 150 up to the Osprey for 600.
