Title: Troubleshooting Pup Problems
Post by: NechesBobcat on February 28, 2011, 11:16:42 pm
As I mentioned in another thread, I had a bad time with my parker pup barking on track and busting up several bays. Well he never started barking until he was almost looking at the hawg and only barked while he was actually chasing the hawgs so I'm thinking he may not understand the baying concept since he's never been in a bay pen and only helped bay one other hawg. Well he bayed a hog in a pen today and just as I figured, he was always in the wrong spot. My other dogs stay right in the hogs face but he acts like he doesn't know where to be. He was baying way too loosly and staying behind the hawgs instead of in front. I think this is probly something I can work with him on. Does anyone around here have a really big bay pen? I want the hawgs to be able to run and work with him on stopping them and let him understand he needs to get in their face and not just chase them around. I thought this was instictive for all dogs but you can sure tell he needs some work watching him bay.

Call me ,my buddies in Liberty have a nice pen with some rank hogs. They mostly bay on Sundays unless they are in the sticks.
