Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on March 02, 2011, 03:34:06 am
Turned my two young woods dogs loose to get warmed up for the hunt tonight. Could not let em in pen or would have caught my puppy sow. Playing with new video camera. Yall enjoy. The red thang is my wifes worthless ridgeback pet. LOL

Yea they got warmed up alright. Jumped one right off the bat later that night and 4 hours later and I don't know how many miles we pulled em from that East Texas Racehorse Russian that we were trying to shut down. These dang thicket hogs are gettin contankerous bout stoppin. Run at the sound of a truck door slammin. Hope everybody else is havin better luck in open country.

That hog is mean. I had one like that in the pen but ate him. Haven't caught another like that since.

LOL......Look real hard in the background and you will see my opinion of what em red dogs do.....Chase butterflies!!!!!!!!!!! :D

For all you new guys out there. Yeller dogs vs Other dogs are kinda like comparing Wal-Mart to Dollar General. (You use Dollar General only cause its convienient not cause you get the best deal) :o

I love them yeller dogs my self, I am 100% BMC man myself, but I am gonna laugh one day when you ol dogs throw an all yella with no mask or a good red colored pup. I may sneak down there to Texas and drop one of these good reddish colored BMC dogs off with one of your gyps and pick him back up before you know what went on  ;D then you will change your handle to yellow-no-mask or yellow-blackmask-optional  ;D ;D

Surely you wouldn't cull a dog for color alone  ???

Sorry Waylon I couldn't hear you due to the ringing in my ears from the last culling excercise. What was your question?

Well a man has to have a goal in mind or he will keep junk, if your dogs have to look a certain way to please you I can respect that. I cull for other reasons but I'm pretty picky myself, color is not on my list but conformation is

My preference is to bake the cake and get to eat it too. Am all about performance but just makes it even better when they look good performing.  I can't hate on anybody else that prefers to concentrate on one particular trait. Just more challenging to get em with the whole package and more satisfaction at the end of the day.
Some people say (Color don't hunt)...... I say it don't if all your doin is hunting for just color.

Gotta look at the overall package boys no matter what your choice of color is.

But my crayon box is all Yeller ones. Now if I could just get my helment to fit right I might quit licking windows. :P

No both of these are off my line dogs. The majority of my working pack is all youngsters under 3 yrs since I lost almost all of my old brood stock this past year. Am currently rebuilding both sides and experimenting with a third if these Yeller catchers turn out to be rough as I want em to.
