Title: Ybmc/Plott breeding
Post by: bluejock24 on March 06, 2011, 02:09:47 pm
About to cross my best yellow gyp with a buddies really good Plott male then going to breed a gyp out of that litter back to a bmc. What are the pros and cons of the 1st generation cross half n half, colors to be expected out of saddle back brindle Plott and black mask Ybmc, and finally any body interested in pups? Only looking to keep a female or two plus a pup for the stud owner the rest are up for grabs

I'd take a hundred fifty a pup just to cover shots, wormer and everything or will trade a pair for a bmc that's ready to start.

Ive got one that is going on 2 years old out of some damn fine dogs. They will either start right off like a plott would or they will be slow maturing like a cur dog, which mine is. Some will be semi open and some silent. I like the cross myself.

I have seen several cur-plott first crosses out of good parents that were very good dogs. I would think you will have mostly saddle back and brindle pups. Good luck.

x2

Some will hunt like a BMC, some like a plott and some like a combination of both and it is possible that one or two might not inherent any hunting traits.
