Title: RPOA UPDATE - Texas VMA and HSUS Are Bedfellows Says New President! Post by: jls41 on March 28, 2011, 08:23:38 am Everyone should take a good look at HB 1451!!
March 27, 2011 New Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) President Dr. John Morton, DVM, apparently doesn't know the difference between animal "rights" and animal "welfare." Dr. Morton is quoted in the URL link below in a Tyler Newspaper article supporting Rep. Senfronia Thompson's "Pet Elimination Bill" officially known as HB 1451. Morton was raised on a farm and says, "I think God chose this profession for me." He sees this as an "animal rights" bill and says Rep. Thompson's bill filed last session was "the worst piece of legislation I ever saw in my life and would just about have put all breeders out of business in Texas." What does Dr. Morton think this new version of the HSUS bill will do? It is an HSUS national legislative agenda to put ALL dog and cat breeders out of business - to write legislation and/or regulations that will be impossible to meet in a home environment or anywhere else eventually. Check out our flyer on "Get Anything Passed and Come Back Later" http://www.rpoatexasoutreach.org/Brochurs_Flyers/Flyer-PMQuotes-HSUS_THLN.pdf HSUS vegan President Wayne Pacelle says he "never wants to see another dog or cat born." Texas extremists don't want any dog and cat breeding until there are no animals impounded in animal shelters. Meaning forever. SNAP says "No Birth is the First Step to No Kill!" and they mean it. Dr. Morton also says (while wearing a grin), "politics sometimes makes an odd bunch of bedfellows" referring to TVMA being in bed with some people "we don't normally get in bed with -- such as Humane Society of the United States." What is he thinking? No Breeding = No Pets = No Vets = No Pet Supplies = No Tax Revenue in Texas! TVMA expects the bill to pass the Legislature "pretty much" as written. Perhaps you remember our "Et tu, Brute" E-News message from November when we first reported that TVMA actually had joined hands with HSUS and their Texas lapdog, Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN), on writing Rep. Senfronia Thompson's "Pet Elimination Bill." Other states fortunate enough to have their state veterinary organizations' support in fighting the radical HSUS agenda are: MN, MO, GA, and NV. Texas animal owners have been betrayed by TVMA. We've been sold out by TVMA for an agreement to leave the vets out of the bill except for the income from annual vet checkups for each dog or cat owned. Ask your veterinarian if they are a member of TVMA. You might want to search for a vet that isn't a member if this bill passes.
