Title: Pollen Question
Post by: JC2 on March 28, 2011, 08:03:30 pm
Ok guys..........I've had alot of old timers tell me that the pollen and new green growth in spring effects the dogs ability to wind and  trail.

Is this a legitimate issue or  an easy excuse for a dog not working as hard when the weather heats up ?

I am not sure about the pollen issue but my belief is that the dog is having to go thru thicker vegetation and the weather is getting hotter during the pollen months so these two conditions work against the hunting dogs ability to perfom like he can during winter.

The weeds are down and the dog can better keep up with the hog. The cooler weather helps the dog to run longer and harder so the dog has a better chance to produce hogs.

I am talking about the southern states.

I really dont see how it couldnt affect a dog if it hasnt been washed off by rain.

I don't believe it matters. This weekend the pollen was bad. I looked down after being in the woods for a short time and my boots were yellow instead of black.  We ended up baying eight hogs altogether.

I think the only way it matters if the dog has allergies to pollen.
