Dog hunters had better be carefull hunting this time of year.  Poisonous snakes can do damage to a good hunting dog.

Thats what I like to see. Only good snake is a dead snake.  I personally dont want to get close enough to one to determine if it's poisonous or not. Everytime I go to check fences I have the trusty 410 with me in case I roll up on a snake.  I know some people will argue that certain snakes are beneficial, but I just don't see it. Kill 'em all.

I will catch a King Snake if I can. When I was a kid hunting in West Texas there some big snakes I think were black and red but no design. The Game Warden said they were not poisonous. So I chased one into a tree (not very tall it was West Texas) I threw stuff trying to knock it down so I could catch it. Forget that snake was probably around five feet long. I realized I was lucky when I caught a garden snake and it bit the tar out of me. I found out a non-poisonous snake can still rip you up ;D Depends on where I am I shoot Copper Heads, Corral Snakes, Rattlers, and Cotton Mouths when I see them. I have even used a Machete because I did not have a gun with me. Any snake in the yard is dead.

I had these pictures emailed to me a few months back. They say the rattlesnake was around 170lbs and was 15ft long.

I used to guide bird hunts on the King Ranch. They have some sure enough large rattlers down there. Going to lose a few dogs during the season for sure.

They have a snake down there called a Blue Indigo that is about 15 feet long. It seemed that long anyway because it is complete run a way material. They eat rattle snakes and you better not kill one.

Blue indigo's eat rattlesnakes, but I would still kill the hell out of one.

I'll have to agree. Only good snake is a dead one. From hunting hogs with my dogs on those summer nights in the swamps, i have had my share of snakes. Kill all you can!!

I should have known my pals would start up a post like this. Gives me the creeps even posting on this thread. Yea on the comment on the King Ranch. I have seen some monsters in that part of the world when I worked in McAllen. You south Texas boyz can keep em Diamonds.   

We had a couple of them huge black snakes with big orange clothes on them that hung out in trees.  But was any of yals dad like mine.  If the snake did not rattle it was a bull snake, if it was in the yard it was a yard snake, if it was in the pool it was a water snake.  My dad was very informative for my young mind.

I have a picture of a King Snake eating a Rattlesnake somewhere. I took it when I was a kid living in New Mexico. I will try and find it and post on here.

I got a buddy who is a crack shot with pistol out to bout 40 50 yards but he can't hit a snake at 3 steps. He gets upset with me cause I don't kill any of em. I do have picture of one that was a little over 8 1/2' long and weighed 89lbs a timber rattler or cane break rattler not sure which looked like it would've broke your leg had it struck you.

Try and post it everybody would prob get a kick out of that pic.

But I would love to see a Roadrunner that just smoked a kingsnake that ate a cottonmouth, that just swallowed a rattler, who just got up from the dinner table from eating a copperhead. If you find that one for sure post it. AHHH I hate Snakes.. :o

Well I had to go over and check on my good buddy Strikedog who has had a bad snake problem. He told me that he and his wife had smoked a passel of snakes around their back ponds. He was a nervous wreck and needed backup. So I loaded my 8 yr old with a 22 and a brick of shells and set him loose to justify the situation. Lil man got thru smokin that 22 barrel till it was red hot and came out with a count of 10 minus one I shot at and missed that went in between our feet. (Does anybody know how embarrising it is to get out shot by an 8 yr old and then have to go tell your wife) Anyway I hope the homefront is a little more safe at Strikedogs since the thinning. And no lil man hasn't let me forget how he punked the ole man.

Sorry man but I am not proud of the few times in my life that I have squeeled like a school girl and ran blindly into the night. I am sure that Bayedhard with his twisted, sadistic, pathalogically unstable form of amusment will get the story out there. I just want to clear the air now. I don't drink breast milk and have never tapped danced in public.  8)

Ive had my share of climbin trees to get away from my buddies chasin me with snakes, and wrecked my buddies brand new truck when a spider landed on my hand.
