Title: starting my cat
Post by: PACECHO on April 23, 2011, 03:11:55 pm
I got a year old catahoula she has been on one hunt and just wasn't sure what to do? it was night and a large hog.
i want to start training her. can i use a farm babie pig or does it have to be wild.
any info would be great.
and as for myself i have been hunting hogs for about a year, and want to start having somthing to bring to the hunt besides a strong back!!

X2 The first time I threw my plot inside a bay pen he tried to run out. The second time we threw him in with a finished dog and he looked like a pro. I've been working him for a few months and he is finally finding his own hogs and getting down.

id start it in a bay pen, maybe with a dog that hates pig with a vengance

gotta find out her range too

Finding a bay pen in ca is a little hard to come by, but i may know a guy who has one, but  i have to go make buddys with this guy. i have a freind with a finished dog to work with just need to find a pen. or i may just start building my own. they make it so hard in ca

build ya one out of pallets, 6x6 posts bout 8 foot long, dig 2 foot down and cement posts in, then 2 pallets stacked on top, make it bout 20 foot round, add some barrels drilled together or make it round a tree for the dogs to work around

best bay pen ive made under 100 bucks lol!!
