Stay out of it......works everytime! Sorry,......didn't mean to be a smart a$$, but I couldn't help myself. I'm as allergic to the stuff as a human can be I reckon,....best thing I see is to learn to recognize it from aways and stay out of it if possible. Sometimes you just can't though, so I take a shower as soon as I can after exposure and don't handle the clothes I wore after I shower. Remember that your dogs and the hogs will be covered with it, so wash your hands after contact. I've started keeping some wet wipes in my coat and use 'em when I need to....also keep your hands away from your face and eyes after you touch a dog or hog....that's how you get it in your eyes, and that sucks.

There is a product called BAND-AID external analgesic ANTI-ITCH GEL. Several years ago there was a product called Rhuli-cream/gel. This is the same stuff and has worked well for me. You should find this on the shelf at a drug store or walmart.

Wash all exposed areas with dawn dish soap and cross your fingers.  ;D  No, this actually works pretty well.  The degreasing agent in the dawn does a pretty good job of drying out the oils from the poison ivy, as long as you get to it soon enough.  I hope this helps.

I've heard wash off with rubbing alcohol, it supposedly cuts the sap, then wash again with dawn . It dont matter much, when i get it, i may of well put my hands in boiling water, it'd look about the same.

Watch those hands when u go to pee lol! I bought some soap from my local drug store espically for posion ivy use it after u come into contact with it seems to wk ok. There is this stuff called techenu it is supposed to be used b4 u go into the woods lol cant tell u how it wks never took time to use it!!

I used to get it bad and have tried all those medicines and all that other junk. NONE of it will get rid of it.. I tried Zanfel one time and it worked but its about 30 bucks a tube.. The thing is to scrub it till it stops itching then do it again if it starts itching again.. Then I figured like most everything else Zanfel was a rip off and nothing in the ingredients was actually making it go away, instead it was the scrubbing it off your skin that did it. So the next time I got it I just used regular ol gritty Fast Orange hand cleaner and scrubbed it till all the blisters were busted and it didn't itch and when it started itching I did it again.. Don't be scared to bust the bliters it WILL NOT spread it, matter of fact it will heal it a lot faster. Just scrub it till it hurts. I have even started using fine sandpaper or even a stiff fingernail brush. The thing is to just scrub it till it don't itch, that alone makes it a lot more bearable. I used to Hate it when I to it because it would be at least a week of having to doctor it and itching and trying not to scratch it. Now I don't even think twice about it.  Staying out of it is good but when you hunt in the summer you're gonna get in it ...

my granddaddy used to rub whiskey with a cotton ball on me when id be out in a field to play, then just shower and use dawn soap

I say drink the whiskey, forget the cotton ball, and for a little while, u won't giva s**t u got poison ivy!

No joke, Take a Benadryl before you go in the woods, take another when you come out, and wash up well.

Get you some drift laundry baby detergent. Pour some in the bath tub & take a bath it will dry it up. That's what my grandmother used on us when we were younger. I still use it on me & my son. One time we were playing were she told us not too. We got chiggers real bad you know were. Anyway she had us get the green bottle out of the med cabinet & rub it one. Well it was Asorbin jr & it burned like h@ll. She said now you boys will listen & mind me. I still to this day does  what granny says ;p 

Go to the doc and get ya a shot in ya ass and it wil be dried up in a couple days

stuff called ivy dry, it's a spray and burns like hell but it'll clear it up within a few days and it's pretty cheap

Hydrocortosone creme has worked pretty good for me. Clears it up perty quick and helps reduce the itching.

X2 This stuff does wonders after a rash breaks out. Drys it up quick and stops the itch.

the main thing like mentioned is to recognize it while hunting and steer clear but not always an option, especially when your dogs catch a big hog in the middle of a knee-high patch of that stuff.  I hate it and am allergic too.  
BUT, it is an oil so take a few things into consideration...
Takes longer to absorb into your skin - so you have about 15-20 mins(some say 1/2 hour) to wash it off before it really begins to affect you.
Also, due to being an oil, don't use soaps to wash or rinse, just use plain ole' water.  the soaps will break the oil down into smaller drops and will actually help to spread and absorb into your skin.  In fact, you can do a ton of good by just washing your hands/arms off in a nearby creek if you know you just got into it and will be better than waiting til after a hunt.  

X2 on it being all over your dogs and gear - cut collars, catch vest, leads etc..   Be sure you re-wash or rinse after you get dogs taken care of once home.  WASH YOUR GEAR, the oil from poison ivy is extremely stable and will stay potent - essentially forever. You can get a rash from clothing, boots or gear that have the oil from last summer, or even from many years back.

One thing that i have used that seems to help me is to run hot water over already affected areas, hot as you can stand and it takes the itch away for several hours at a time.  Also, it keeps you from scratching and helps it heal faster.

lava soap works good

I used to be severly allergic to it when i was younger, but hardly ever get it now, not bad anyway.
        The best thing i have found to help with the itching, is to keep the affected area as cold as you can. Even if it means putting an ice pack on it.

Heard MythBusters did a show on poison ivy being cured by vodka rubbed on it. I didn't see it but one of my church members did. He was bad allergic to it and the next time he got into it he used it. The next day you could not even see a rash, redness or anything to show he had been in it. He wasn't the type to lie but I'd like to hear more if anybody wants to experiment. External use only lol. 

vodka works wonders with hot sauce too, it removes the oil so i guess it would work on poison ivy
