251 AND UP $0.25
THEY ARE A LOT LOWER THAN IN THE PAST I DONT THINK THEY WILL GO UP ANYTIME SOON.. YOU BRING THEM TO ME WE WEIGH THEM AND I WRITE A COMPANY CHECK TO YOU ON THE SPOT WE HAVE BEEN BUYING FOR 5 YRS..

Catch and release.

well folks  i been around this board pretty much from the start in the background but the statement catch and release has to be the craziest thing i ever heard ..... do you catch and release RATS

      While I have no intention of changing your mind about catch and release, this might explain why some people catch and release. I know a number of people in this area that barr hogs so that they can then kill them later and have "good" meat. They hunt the forest and catch boars, barr them, catch them again the next year and kill them. They don't leave the meat to waste, they make good use of the meat.

     On the other hand, I completely understand your opinion, when applied to farmers and ranchers. There are properties that I am doing removal that I cannot cut and release, and there are properties where I hunt for sport and I can barr em on those places.

aint worth dragging em out of the woods for like 40 bucks split 4 ways for a 200 lb pig

$40.00 can go toward feeding the dogs, buying fuel, equipment or heaven forbid vet bills.  I am not independently wealthy, (look at my user name) and can see how getting a little back helps in the long run.

I agree with you Flatbroke. It is not right to kill them and let them lay. If your gonna kill them you need to do something with them. Eat them yourselves feed them to your dogs or something. Personally i prefer to sell them. 40 bucks is 40 bucks. ;D ;D

Be glad you can get a penny for them. It is Illegal for us to sell wild pigs in SC dead or alive.  Cant transport them out of county they were caught.

We cant sell or transport  them alive here in CA either, and we have to pay $18.65 per hog.

 you ever seen a corn,coastal,wheat field after hogs have been through,or a cow while its down having a calf  ate and no sign of the calf and just the hull of a 1000 dollar cow laying there? not to mention the wildlife stand point deer,turkey,quail eggs,and other groud dwellers. pplus the erosion problems they create. and even a barr hog will do all that damage too.
 i  an with Flatbroke a dollar is a dollar and ill get ever dime i can . i just wonnt burn 100's trapping and go in the hole doing itand if i geta few that not to torn that il can sale and pay for the gas to a buying station (50 miles) and still come out on top ill do it .
  other than that i say "kill all them somofbeeches"
  the farmers and ranchers will give you a good word and send you on to  the next place

I see that all the time, but never any reason to think it's hogs doing it   ??? 

i never said kill em and leave em, i said it isnt worth the trouble of dragging them out of the woods alive for no telling how far (doing that on 1500 acres is real fun) then the cost of gas taking them to a buying station.


yeah  quarter em in the woods, use them as dog food or eat them yourselves i agree with, but 20 30 40 bucks for all the trouble of taking them alive isnt worth the hassle to me.

Unless its easy to get to them on the 4 wheeler i aint draggin nothin ;D
