John, It is possible for a purple ribbon bluetick (UCK registered for at least 3 generations) to produce a liver colored pup. However, they are still white background with liver patches. If the pups were solid brown, she was caught by something other than a bluetick. It is completely possible that there are some pure pups in the litter, while others have a different sire. That being said, if it was me, I would elect to pass on that litter. If you need more info on the bluetick breed, please contact me. I am happy to provide you any info that I have on the breed. I am the Florida rep for the BBCHA (Bluetick Breeders and Coon Hunters Association). Regards, Josh Title: Re: Question on blue tick Post by: John S on April 29, 2011, 02:11:01 pm The man said that they are UCK registered , but I am with you I didn't think they were full blue ticks. I did get 2 pups , they are red brown with long ears , 9 weeks old . I only gave $50 each. They look like they may make a good hound??? I just wanted to try them ( I didn't get any papers) . The papers will not make them hunt any better, but don't think it is right to try to pass off a dog like that. Thanks.

I'm going to come off like a smart tail even though that is not my intentions, but do you feel if I bred these blueticks to labs, the pups would come out with short ears? Title: Re: Question on blue tick Post by: John S on April 29, 2011, 02:44:47 pm I think the pups that I got may have some red bone hound in them, that is what they look like and sound like . You do have some very nice looking hounds there. And I don't know about the lab thing?? I just didn't know if they could have a through back t some blue ticks??

Look at how long the ears are and the tail come over there back. The mother was a blue tick. Just because they are not full blooded does not mean they want hunt later.

Title: Re: Question on blue tick Post by: Backwoods on May 03, 2011, 09:30:58 am I am not an expert on BLUETICKS, but I have seen my fare share. I have seen bluticks have bluetick and redtick pups in the same batch, and it was a throw back to several generations , but I have never in my 44 years seen bluetick pups look like those. I think it would be safe to say the mom , or sombodies mom like to slip out late at night....
Title: Re: Question on blue tick Post by: John S on May 03, 2011, 09:55:42 am You all are right . All I know the the mother was a blue tick.
