Title: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 06:10:13 pm Ok guys, laugh all you want, but me and Grace are fixin to be first time Mommy's. We are on the 28 day count down. Remind me again of everything I need to do? Worming, which shots? all that mess...
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 06:18:36 pm First thing to do is run around the house like a screamin banshee, get crawlin drunk, prank call a ex like 5 times, and pass out only to find out you pissed in the laundry basket instead of the toilet... maybe thats just me
congrats who are the lucky parents? Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 06:22:36 pm Grace is my BMC/Plott gyp. Garin (Daddy) is the BMC dog that I got from Nogalus Boy.
Grace was really coming on strong in the bay pen, Garin is mostly a me-to bay dog, but will stop a runner if needed. What sucks is that I am going to be in Canada getting married while Grace is having her puppies, so my aunt Jolita will be acting as midwife LOL. Garin (http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af282/Tinytexascowgirl/3a5f6312.jpg) Grace (red gyp in front of Maurice) (http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af282/Tinytexascowgirl/Family.jpg) Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 06:25:51 pm Well congrats you lucky lady!!
and whats the plan for the pups? got pics? Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 06:29:02 pm It wasn't really a planned pregnancy, damn kids just couldn't wait... LOL
As far as the pups, I have promised the pick of the Females to my grandpa, the pick of the males to my Greg Wynn, and the 2nd best female to my aunt Jolita. The rest of the pups will be going to whoever will garuntee them a huntin home, as I want to see what this match will make since I don't hunt much... Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 06:33:14 pm those are nice dogs, gonna make some good pups
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: dub on April 30, 2011, 06:38:25 pm Having puppies and getting married at the same time! Now that is a redneck wedd'n!
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 06:54:54 pm Kind of like my first wedding dress fitting. Went and did that, got the dress off, back in my boots and jeans, and went huntin! You should have seen the Dallas people staring at a 5' 4'' GIRL driving a Ford Dually...
Ok y'all, enough with the jokes. Help me out... What do I do to be sure mom and pups are ok? Grace is an parvo puppy herself, REALLY do not want a repeat of that. Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 07:11:19 pm Start her on a pregnancy vitamin, put her on a high calorie diet, give her some boosters to make sure shes good
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 07:26:36 pm What kind of preg vit do I give her, and where do I get them.
What boosters, and when? She is already on Black Gold Ultimate Puppy, has been on puppy all her life. Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 07:44:57 pm aim for b12, folic acid, and calcium the last few weeks of pregnancy for puppy growth, start her on 2 boiled eggs every meal
but be careful about vitamin A it will cause alot of defects, keep on her flea meds and deff on her heartworm. talk to a local vet and find out when shots will be needed Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 07:47:09 pm OK. I will go to Wal-Mart and stock up on vitamins and eggs and call my vet monday morning.
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: SCHitemHard on April 30, 2011, 07:50:48 pm ill get in touch with one of my sisters they will tell me more on what vitamin to use, i know b12 is really good to build strong pups it helps with their stress level thoughout the pregnancy, but i will let oyu know what else
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: dub on April 30, 2011, 09:02:19 pm First parvo is at six weeks. You are just stressed. Take a deep breath. I have had many litters that never saw a vet and they all made it. But with parvo now I don't play. I would just talk to your vet and give the vet's number to your Aunt. Let your aunt worry about it and focus on your wedding. Let your aunt earn her puppy. Now I will try to hold off on the picking but no promises.
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on April 30, 2011, 09:06:09 pm Dub, you know better than anyone that I don't mind being picked on, it makes me giggle. LOL
I know that many litters have been born, but Grace is my miracle child, she should have technically been dead 3 times. She got Parvo, then she got kicked in the head by a horse and knocked out for 10 mins, and then month fell out of the back of the truck... Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: T-Bob Parker on April 30, 2011, 09:31:43 pm Glass half empty girl, if she Don made it thru all that, she'll be fine ;) if she's on black gold puppy, I wouldn't worry to much about supplemental vitamins, and though some people add calcium, there are some veterinary studies to show that additional calcium can actually impede milk production. In all honesty, outside of regular worming and flea control, just put her in a whelping box in a safe quiet place and let nature take its course
Good luck, and don't worry Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: dub on April 30, 2011, 11:12:41 pm I try to pick on people that can take it ;D But really unless there is something strange dogs normally have easy births. So have the vet's number but it should not be needed. I thought you were tiny. At 5'4" you are about as tall as my mom and she can put a woop'n on people that get out of line. Don't make me come up with tiny smack talk rolleyes You are alright in my book and the pups should be fine.
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: a-khunter on May 02, 2011, 07:54:27 am congrats on yer pups. sorry it didnt work out w/ her an yella. he will always be available if u ever wanna try again. ;D
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: Purebreedcolt on May 02, 2011, 07:59:48 am If they don't have fleas or ticks worm them at 2 4 6 8 weeks and first 7 way at 6 weeks 2nd at 9 3rd at 12 then some do a 4th other than that sounds like they are set to go
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: BarrNinja on May 02, 2011, 08:08:06 am 1st litter and new environment? Make sure she has a welping box/spot well clear of any other dogs to start with. A stress free environment for her 1st litter is more important than anything else you can do for her at welping time.
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 02, 2011, 10:02:55 am Keri, I have tried to call you a couple of times, but it went straight to your voicemail... I did not intend for her to tie up with Garin, but by the time I realized she was in, it was too late.
Ninja, to a degree it is a new environment, but she has been over at my aunt's for a couple of hours at a time many times, so it's not completely unfamiliar, and she is used to be boarded, so being away from me is nothing new. Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 05, 2011, 11:40:56 am Well, tomorrow Grace has her vet appointment tomorrow to X-Ray her and count puppy heads. How many do y'all think? First litter with a 2 year old gyp...

Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: a-khunter on May 05, 2011, 02:50:59 pm her mama had 11 pups in her 1st litter. 1 died at birth. so there were 10 pups in grace's litter.
but my guess is 8 Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 05, 2011, 02:53:54 pm Kerry, :o 11 PUPPIES???? YOU ARE NOT HELPING MY FRAME OF MIND ANY
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 05, 2011, 02:57:14 pm Maurice casted his vote. He says 7. 5 females and 2 males.
I'm taking the safe route and saying 6, three of each. Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: a-khunter on May 05, 2011, 03:17:45 pm good luck!
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: Turkeycreek_ybm on May 05, 2011, 04:20:30 pm I say more females then male

Now that is funny Got to love people who love their dogs ;D Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 05, 2011, 09:35:32 pm Mex, Grace lives in the house full time. She would trip out if I kicked her outside.
I might be wrong guys. These might be A-Khunter's yella dog's pups. My vet said if they were Garin's she shouldn't be due till the end of May or beginning of June, but her va jay jay is swelled up HUGE and she started leaking milk tonight... If she drops in the next week, that would mean that she took while she was at Kerry's back in feb/march... Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on May 06, 2011, 10:41:03 am Couldn't get an accurate head count. Not far enough along. Looks to be at least 6 pups. We are gonna pull 2 more xrays on the 20th
Title: Re: PUPPIES!!!! Post by: djhogdogger on May 06, 2011, 10:53:02 am We have had a dog have puppies in the house. A little swiming pool from walmart and some old blankets worked great.
