Title: Re: James Land Post by: Austin on May 16, 2011, 02:18:36 am I am good friends with his boy. I dont know James' # but PM yours and I will pass it on to his boy and get you in touch with him maybe. As far as I know he is still hunting, last time i was over there, a few years back, he had over a 100 dogs probably.
Title: Re: James Land Post by: coach on May 16, 2011, 09:35:03 am He still hunts. Although he was involved in a bad helicopter crash a couple of months back. That ole tough sob got up and walked away from it. Had 3rd degree burns and a couple of broken bones but can't slow him down, he was hunting 2 weeks later
Title: Re: James Land Post by: uglydog on May 16, 2011, 10:49:02 am He put out a hunting video a few years back, did not have alot of bell sand whistles but was good video of dogs and hunting hogs.
He used to have a booth as Buck Fever in Seguin and always brought a good display of educational items to teach folks about using dogs for hog removal. Title: Re: James Land Post by: graydog on May 17, 2011, 12:04:17 am I met him at a baying in Refugio many moons ago and have talked to him in the past about his dog breeding program. I also have his DVD and agree with Krystal, it is enjoyable. The narrator is a little different, but i liked seeing his dogs in action. He has a very good reputation as a hunter with folks all over south Texas. I've been told in the past that it was very difficult to get one of his dogs, but those that had them really liked them.
Title: Re: James Land Post by: Nathan on May 17, 2011, 02:22:30 pm I hunted with James when I was 7 years old down around big foot Texas. I will be 28 in august. I haven't heard that name in a long time. I think Texas trophy hunters magazine did an article on him and his dogs a few years back.
Title: Re: James Land Post by: coach on May 17, 2011, 03:32:08 pm Most all of that line is long gone when you see that video they were using lacy dogs, bmc, and cat. Back in the day all of his dogs were red cur lookin dogs we bought one in 93 he was a good ole dog paid 800 for that dog back then that was nearly unheard of.
Title: Re: James Land Post by: jsh on May 17, 2011, 09:02:43 pm James was my science teacher in middle school and I'm 35. He was hunting then and is still going. I played ball in La Vernia with his son Shane. My cousin, Kbar on here, trades dogs and hunts with him once in a while. Most of his hog dogs are gone and good luck ever getting one. I had the chance once about 6 years ago and still kick myself for not doing it. He mainly hunts coyotes now with Stags and Walkers. He is a great man, not flashy at all and will not tolerate any BS while hunting. Last time I saw him was 2 years ago at my dad's funeral.
