Title: This is where I grew up, where we hunt and where we get away. Post by: arrowbar on June 06, 2011, 08:04:45 pm This is our ranch. Where we learned to hunt deer, antelope, coyotes, bobcat, lion and now we are learning to hunt the hogs that slip past the massive ranch to the east that uses helicopters to hunt.

Post by: Circle C on June 07, 2011, 10:32:08 am I've got some family friends that used to run ~100 sections about an hour east of you, near Tucamcari. Part of the family sold out to a Morman group and moved back to Texas, between Llano and Brady. They other part of the family still lives in your area. Last name is White, not sure if you have heard of them... Joe Tom White still lives in Santa Rosa if I recall correctly.

Title: Re: This is where I grew up, where we hunt and where we get away. Post by: matt_aggie04 on June 07, 2011, 10:50:22 am Awesome country! I drove right through there last September and couldn't help but think how few people live in the area. Really nice country there. Do you any pictures of the antelope or mule deer yall have taken off that place?
Title: Re: This is where I grew up, where we hunt and where we get away. Post by: arrowbar on June 07, 2011, 11:07:02 am I could take pictures off the wall at my parents and brothers homes for the deer and antelope we have taken. I dont have any on anything digital. The drought has thinned the deer population and the lion have helped thin them and barbary too.

Title: Re: This is where I grew up, where we hunt and where we get away. Post by: firemedic on June 08, 2011, 08:18:57 am I thought I might be close on my guess arrowbar. Been through there several time over the last 15 years or so. First trip out there we were on the way to 16D to elk hunt and got into Vaughn in the wee hours, we were about to run out of fuel in my buddy's truck, it was a diesel, little did we know that there wasn't but one store in Vaughn that sold diesel and it was closed at 3 in the morning. So, we pulled into the parking lot of the store, can't remember the name of it, it was a big general store type deal on the right just when you got into town, we slept in the truck until they opened up about 7 or so. This was in late August and it was COLD as all get out that night. We learned a good lesson that night, now we never get very low on gas or fuel without filling up first chance we get, they roll the streets up in those little villages at dark I reckon.
