Title: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on June 07, 2011, 09:13:35 pm Lion and Boar Hunter,
Have you ever dropped hounds with Gary Roberson? I know he is one of the best cat callers in the nation. He runs running hounds on the bobs. I'm just curious if you know him. http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/index.php?topic=30895.0 Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: cward on June 07, 2011, 10:08:52 pm I'm not sure about your guy but I hunted one time with JP and Craig Loftin and Craig is a pretty good cat caller!! He just goes here kitty kitty! ;D
As for as JP I'm pretty sure he chase's Bob. :o :o Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: boarwild on June 08, 2011, 08:23:36 am hey Josh,
Gary is the owner of Burnham Brothers calls. I call with some of buddies very often and call with his nephews and brother. We won the los Cazadores predator contest a few months back. He is a pretty good caller, but Doug Wadsworth whom was featured in a few predator magazines is probably the best in this area that is close to Jesse. if you ever come down this way like you always say you are well go call with him. I added a pic of my last hunt with them. I use a lot of calls that "Trapper2" makes out of horn as well. Good gosh, what a cool pic.
Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on June 08, 2011, 08:29:47 am Matt, is there anything you can't do? ;D
I had no idea you were into calling? Between the hogs and dove, I did not think you had the time. You must have a loving wife with hobbies of her own. ;) Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: boarwild on June 08, 2011, 08:41:28 am That was a 24 hour hunt 2pm saturday to 2pm sunday. We drove 3 hours from here to Oilton, TX called the afternoon and some at night and a few calls in the morning, and drove 3 hours back. I grew up with Gary's nephew's here in Devine. All very good people. Gary's brother Russell has some of the best blood trailing lacy's around us. Gary is the also the one who designed the Savage 10xp Predator gun.

Cow's is her thing and hunting is my thing. Although she likes it all as well except i haven't been able to talk her into predator calling yet. I sit behind a desk running numbers all day long, so i have to have some way of releiving that tension. I'm an outdoors guy and it kills me everyday to be indoor. If I am not mistaken, I think I read he was also the first to have the original Mossy Oak team hunt in Texas. He also sells property with the Mossy Oak Properties group. I know he told me in the past he has some huge parcels of land to hunt. Greater than 100,000 acres specifically. ;D That's a lot of land. Very cool to know that you personally know him. Tell him I said hi next time you see him. Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: boarwild on June 10, 2011, 09:46:58 am Well if we had a buyer anywhere around hear i would sell them but i don't know of one. My cats i mount if there worth it though. Otherwise i will give them to a local taxidermist. This is my most recent one i just got back not too long ago.

Summer pelts aren't usually to nice but those look pretty good in these pictures. I am good at running the copy call, but that hand calling is slowing coming around. i use the Burnham Brother Black Magic and the new horn calls i got from "trapper2" Ryan Arrington. Next time your around my woods Alan we should hit the calls. I go alone more often then not, becuase i can't beg someone to go with me. Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on June 10, 2011, 10:21:40 am I had a cat done several years ago that I harvested with my bow. He was 35 #'s on the scale. Beautiful yellow -tinted coat. Not really any nice spots to speak of. The guy messed him up as far as I'm concerned. I don't even hang him on my wall. The eyes just don't look right. Your mount looks nice.
Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: BarrNinja on June 10, 2011, 10:32:11 am One of these days I'm going to get back that way again. It's been a year since I've been to Leakey and I'm jonesing pretty bad! Thanks for the offer.
I love mouth calling but the combination of both are really deadly on call shy coyotes. Looks like you have a dang good handle on it to me! Your mount looks nice. That is awesome Josh. I just got a bow not too long ago and haven't shot it yet. That one thing i have never done. I think that is another level of hunting with you can shoot a predator with a bow. congrats on that. I'll post a pic of my other mount that i don't care for. The guy does a great job with cats here in our home town but i don't like the set up of my other one. Title: Re: Lion and Boar Hunter Post by: Purebreedcolt on June 10, 2011, 11:47:26 am Lol I have a cat that is crosseyed on the wall that I lip squeaked in. I don't do much hand calling but love lip squeaking and still use a home made mp3 player some.
