Title: American leopard curr?? Post by: okboarhunter on June 25, 2011, 04:05:39 pm What is this breed, thinking about getting one shipped from georgia. Who uses these breed or raises these near oklahoma?
Title: Re: American leopard curr?? Post by: Reuben on June 25, 2011, 04:28:30 pm They are kinda like a mtn cur, but some mtn curs are starting to look like fiest. The original mtn cur is somewhat between a hound and a cur. The leopard is usually colored like a catahoula or bluetick hound. Nowadays a lot more of them are looking houndy. They take a track and most open on track. There are a few out there that are bred for big game. Some come in red and some in black and tan and others in yellow but the dominant color is blue ticked.
Title: Re: American leopard curr?? Post by: Yeller on June 26, 2011, 10:58:32 pm Deep chest, tight flank, alot of lung ,open on track but faster than your average hound . Faster than alot of curs too! Most are one man dogs .I've seen upwards of 20 of them! Black brindle legged, leopard & leopard saddleback ,black&tan some are kinda reddish but never seen any blueticked ones . I would say the ones I've seen favored a July more than any other hound. I've looked at the Meeks online and some of them favor a black and tan coondog but I've never hunted with a Meek's dog . The ones I've hunted with were Bowers and McDuffie Leopards . I dont own any Leopard Hounds but they are impressive !
