Title: New gun to carry for those just in case times
Post by: brw7979 on June 27, 2011, 10:03:33 pm
I some how talked my wife into letting me get a new gun. ;D I think it should work really well if the dogs are gettin killed or one of those unforeseen moments.

What caliber did you get?  I looked at one of these the other day in a .22. I think they are called a mares leg.

I ain't tried the wane sling yet. But it is loud real loud. But no recoil to speak of. It has a really smooth action on it. Still got to get used to the big loop. I did carry a .357 for a long time, this one I'm thinkin will be a little easier to keep up with and not come out of the holster like my .357 did a few times when runnin to the bay.

Dang I got beat to it. LOL I've been looking at the rossi version called a ranch hand in a 357 and I'm bout to break down and get it. They are sweet lookin' lil guns. Let us know how it shoots. Did you get the holster you can get for them? I'm figuring you didn't since you got the sling. Now you've really got me wanting one LOL.

It's 24 inches from tip of barrel to butt. I didn't get the holster for it. I've got a friend that does custom leather work so I'm gonna see if he will do a really nice one for me.

I have a set of original 1873 Winchesters in 44/40 and 38/40. I shot the 44/40 it also has a pistol type cartridge and like this one almost zero kick. Must be the type of cartridge being shot in a rifle. Duno. But perty cool.
You need to saw it down and make you a pistol holster out of it. That way you can quick draw. I promise If you have anybody that wants to give you chit in the woods. They won't after they see that tied to your leg.  MAMMA!!!! ;D

Gotta love a new gun! Good choice too! You can never have too many. Here's my '92 winchester takedown in 45 Colt. It was highly customized by Doug Turnbull. I've only taken it out of the box once and haven't shot it but I want to. Just don't want to beat it up like all my others.

I know the how it feels to lose a pistol. Its not a good feeling when you pat your holster and your guns not there. I knew the general area I lost it in and we looked for every time we went hunting. My buddy found it several months later. Luckily it was stainless and it only had a few rust spots on the bottomside.

Has anyone tried the LeverEvolution 45 Colt ammo yet? Or on a hog? I'd love to try it in my gun.
