Title: aridale terrier cross questions Post by: Purebreedcolt on July 16, 2011, 08:26:30 am Hey anyone have one I was thinking they were not going to take the heat well with long hair but throw them in with a pig and they will go and go and go and not seem vary hot even in this heat. Do yall hunt them in this heat? What about shearing. I am sure impressed with my two but don't have no experience with aridales be for now.

Title: Re: aridale terrier cross questions Post by: uglydog on July 16, 2011, 10:23:13 am mine only have a little airedale in them but still have alot of hair. I will say I don't think its the hair that is the problem as much as conditioning and keping electrolytes in them. My female Deuce heats up faste than any other dog, but its about the way she hustles 90 to nothing all the time, she cools down fast and goes back to it, repeat the process over and over.
I notice when my fuzzy dogs are really hot, they will get in mud or water ut then they like to keep moving and i believe that they are using their own cooling system, so when a dog is hot I don't try to confine them as much as get them out and move them around in the air or in cool water, but sitting still, I believe hols the heat worse for the fuzzy dogs. also I big time BELIEVE in the electrolytes- summer and winter Title: Re: aridale terrier cross questions Post by: Reuben on July 16, 2011, 01:20:42 pm Pete Bassani write a minthly column in full cry and his email is dbassani05@yahoo.com ph 570-228-6038
He knows lots of folks all over that raise hunting airedales. I had a pack of them for about 10 years and I finally decided they were taking up to much space when I could have a few extram mtn curs for striking and a APBT for catching...They are good and tough but I got tired of trimming them down. One thing I did notice about them. You keep their coat trimmed down and they can hunt with or out hunt a cur. Title: Re: aridale terrier cross questions Post by: Purebreedcolt on July 16, 2011, 02:01:27 pm Reuben so you did trim them? Did u do it all year or summer only. Mine are half airdale half bmc and man they impress me more and more and for some reason they really intrigue me I will post up pics when I can get off

Title: Re: aridale terrier cross questions Post by: gary fuller on July 17, 2011, 02:28:45 pm i have owned alot of airedale crosses and one pure one many years ago and i hunt with alot of airedale crosses that belong to guys i hunt with still.actually i think most of the dogs have some dale in em or if not they have irish terrier . i cant really comment on the heat as im in california but i know the hair can make it harder to find cuts for sure. my 2 own best strike dogs were both catahoula airedales. one was a straight cross and the other from a line of airedale catahoula crosses. wish i knew how to post pictures , well i need to get em on computer first i guess, lol. i have a few on here but havnet got postin figured out yet.
